I found out last week that Candace Cameron Bure was coming to Dallas to speak on Mother’s Day so I invited my mom and sister-in-law to go with me to hear her. Like many of you, I grew-up watching Candace on Full House and I have to admit, I had a crush on her older brother Kirk. (My husband’s name is Dirk and I always joke that since I couldn’t marry Kirk , I married Dirk instead!!! Hahaha!!!) I thought we could have a fun “girls morning out” just the 3 of us…..and we did!

It’s so funny what you do and plan before you meet a celebrity. I had all these things I had planned to say. I even tried to wear something kinda cute…..it’s hard being 6 months pregnant and truthfully in the end none of it really mattered! I think when it came time to finally meet her all I was able to say was “Hi” and “Can you sign my books?” Not real original I know!

What I loved about the event though was hearing her speak! She shared about her faith, gave some of her testimony and admitted that she can’t “do it all!!” (Can I hear an amen on that one!!!) She seemed very down-to-earth, approachable and sweet. At one point when asked how she wants to be remembered, she teared up and said she wants to be remembered as a good mom and wife!!! Don’t we all! No matter who you are, as moms we ALL want to leave a good legacy for our children to follow. That’s one of the reasons Courtney and I are offering the Ministry of Motherhood book club this summer, because of this strong desire in all of us to raise our children well. To give them a firm foundation of faith…..one that can weather the storms of life. If you haven’t done so already, let me encourage you to join us this summer as we strive to become the moms God has called us to be!
