For those of you who were with us this past fall GMG session, you know I asked each group to decide how they can put God’s words into action by being Christ’s hands and feet to those in their families, GMG group, towns, states, countries or world! Each group decided how they wanted to complete the challenge. A few weeks ago I received yet another fall challenge submission that I’ve been dying to share with you all!

Thanks so much for the fall challenge to get involved in serving a need around us!  It was really special to share together with my GMG friends in serving our Lord by meeting the needs of our local community! We had been discussing the idea that we are Jesus’ hands and feet today and that we wanted to experience the compassion Jesus felt for the needy who flocked to him every day.  To complete the challenge, we decided to partner with an existing ministry, called the Overflow, that provides free clothing, home goods, pantry & hygiene items, along with a hot meal, to those in need in our county through two major distribution days per year.  The Overflow just completed its 2nd year of service, and our GMG group of 4 preschool moms was able to help with sorting clothing and packaging the pantry items ahead of time, to be ready for the 100+ families that would attend.  Two of us were also able to attend the giveaway as volunteers and make a personal connection with those we were serving, many with children the ages of our own children.  Living in a small town, it was neat to help out families that we actually see in passing on a regular basis but never really knew the needs they had until they came to the giveaway. Through this ministry, the church family that hosts the event also reaches out to the guests to meet not only their physical needs of food and provisions, but also their spiritual needs through prayer and the invitation for Bible study.  Thanks for the inspiration to get involved, and to do it together!

I can’t wait to share with you another GMG challenge submission I received last week! What I love about all the submissions is how they are all different, yet each one is touching an area of our world that is needing God’s ray of light to shine brightly through each of you!!!

Here is the email I received from Julie, concerning her Good Morning Girls and how they met our GMG challenge!

First of all I would like to thank you on behalf or our Good Morning Girls group who we lovingly refer to as the Healing Waters GMG’s. This accountability and sharing has started a revival in the 7 of us who are involved. Words just aren’t enough to tell you of all that our Father has done through the 8 months that we have participated and we will all be starting again in the new year. We have compiled a book of our GMG posts thus far and it is turning into quite a little devotional book!

Now on to the challenge, our group participated in this challenge in two ways – first of all we have provided child care and for a family in our church who has 4 children and little funds so that the parents could enjoy a night alone or out whichever they chose. Secondly, we have a pen-pal who is an inmate at a correctional facility nearby. She is a new Christian and has been incarcerated for over 6 years. In that six years she has never received a Christmas package or a care package of any kind. One of the reasons is due to a lack of any contact with her own family and the other reason I am sure is due to the expense of such a package. Our GMG group funded a large box of Christmas food and treats for Deborah and also was privileged to be able to send her two bibles and a bible study workbook!

This challenge is all about seeing how your group can meet the needs of those God has placed in our lives, I love how Julie’s group did this in both situations, they truly were Jesus’s hands and feet. Giving of their time to help provide child care is worth more than gold to many parents…….we all need a break sometimes. But then they didn’t stop there, instead they reached out to a pen-pal and provided Christmas to someone who hasn’t received one in years! Well that’ll bring you to tears! I’m sure receiving that Christmas package meant the world to her!!! And giving her God’s Word……priceless!!!!

Way-to-go Julie and your GMG group! Thanks for taking the time to put God’s Word into action by meeting the needs of those in your lives! You have truly inspired all of us by the way you met this challenge! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your sweet hearts, willing desire to sacrifice your time to help another and for your thoughtful and loving gifts!!!!!!

I’m so excited to share with you our 1st GMG challenge submission! This past October I posted a challenge asking each group to decide how they can put God’s Words into action by being Christ’s hands and feet to those in their families, GMG group, towns, states, countries or world! I left it up to each group to decide who they were going to help and how they were going to help. One of our fellow Good Morning Girls, Gertha and her group from Georgia, decided to put God’s Word into action……LITERALLY!!! Watch this!

In the United States we are so blessed to have the Word of God so readily available to us that it’s hard for us to realize there are still millions of people who do not have God’s Word in their native tongue…that’s where OneVerse.org comes in.  OneVerse is a program of The Seed Company that enables you to support local Bible translators as they make God’s message available in the language of their people. OneVerse is also an affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators, a wonderful organization who has helped translate God’s Word into numerous languages throughout the world.

If your GMG group hasn’t decided how to complete the challenge yet, won’t you consider donating to one of these organizations? Like Gertha and her group, you too can help support these wonderful organizations who are translating God’s Word for those who do not have it yet. Can you imagine not having God’s Word available to you everyday?
