No Condemnation…

Good Morning Girls Online Bible Study Oh the voices…

God doesn’t love you because….

Your sins really aren’t forgiven…

God is not pleased with you….

He is disappointed in you…

You can’t change…

If God really knew what you are like on the inside…..He wouldn’t/couldn’t love you.

Oh those voices, they speak lies to me day and night, so much so that I have to go back to God’s Word, back to the real Truth, day after day and read for myself what He says about His amazing love for me.

Part of understanding that you are loved is realizing God holds no condemnation for you once you put your faith in Jesus Christ. I know this can be a hard concept to understand; it is for me as well. But let’s think of it this way, would you punish your son or daughter again and again for the same sin? Probably not, and neither does God. Jesus once and for all paid the ransom, the penalty, the punishment … for the sins of the world for each of us and because of His amazing, loving sacrifice we can live in the freedom of knowing that God holds no condemnation for us! Isn’t that simply amazing?

Condemnation: the action of condemning someone to a punishment; sentencing.

“Because of all that God has done for us in Christ, because of Christ’s incarnation, perfect obedience, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and ascension, we who were once under God’s sentence of condemnation and death have been completely set free. We have been loved!”- Elyse M. Fitzpatrick, Comforts From Romans

Ohh sweet friend, don’t let those voices of accusations, disappointments and condemnation keep you from embracing the love God has for you! Walk and live in this truth today:

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

“We cannot be free to love as long as we are dwelling on our self, our own inadequacies, bitterness, lack of forgiveness for ourselves or for others. Jesus desires us to live freely, no condemnation hanging over our heads, so that we become freer to love others well.” Sally Clarkson, You Are Loved

My prayer for you today is that you will come to understand that God holds no condemnation for you, the price for your sins has already been paid! Think of it this way, you are siting on death row because of your sins and awaiting the punishment for those sins, when you are suddenly told that someone else has come to take your place! Someone else will take your punishment. Someone else will die for your sins. Your freedom as been purchased by this person’s life. How would that amazing experience change your life forever?

This, my dear friends, is what Jesus has done for us. We were all on death row because of the sin in our life, but Jesus has come and paid the price for our sins by dying in our place. The price has been paid once and for all for those who are in Christ Jesus. Let’s embrace that truth today and let it change the way we live forever!

Let’s Talk:

1. What keeps you from understanding that God no longer condemns you for your sins?
2. What steps can you take today to help you understand this truth?

Love God Greatly!

  1. Loretta says:

Reminding myself daily of God’s promise that there is no condemnation in Christ, actively speaking this promise out loud. And with time it has become more and more easier to accept and believe .
Sweet Lord thank you so much for this promise to ALL the brethren. Amen

  2. Thank you so much for the time, love and prayers you’ve poured into writing this study and for sharing your hearts so freely. This is the first study I have participated in with GMG and I am enjoying it so much. This is also my first time using the S.O.A.P. method and am finding it to be a very helpful tool. This week’s chapter, The Rival, is speaking truth into my spirit where Truth is so needed. Thank you for the reminder to carefully consider the source of condemning voices and the importance of daily spending time in God’s Word, filling our minds and spirits with His affirming truths. What a gift we have, to know that in Him there is no condemnation.

    • I’m so glad that the SOAP method is working for you, Carla! And that God’s truth is speaking to your spirit. Keep letting Him speak to you!

  3. I loved this post! It did an excellent job of explaining condemnation. I struggled a bit with the scripture today, but this really brought me clarity. Thank you!

  4. I have been following along with this study since day 1. I didn’t get to join any of the Facebook groups but I have been doing it on my own and have enjoyed every moment of this journey so far.

I really needed to read this chapter… I am full of self-condemnation. Those voices of self-condemnation are so loud at times that I can’t see, hear or do anything. They paralyze me and drag me down so low that I fail and then condemn myself more for failing. It is a vicious cycle.

Thank you for the reminder that I can stand firm on the scripture: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

I will stand firm on this truth… this promise that our Lord God has given us. When self-doubt or fear creeps into my mind, I will look upon the cross and repeat the victorious words of Romans 8:1.

Thank you so much for this study, for your warmth, and your prayers. I am feeling God’s love pour into my life.

    God bless all of you.
    xoxo

    • Jennifer,
Yay! We are so glad that you are gaining strength and encouragement from this study. A verse that really helps me when I am struggling with self condemnation is I John 3:20: “If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.” God loves you through and through — no matter what!

I hope you can connect with a Facebook group for the next study, but in the meantime, I would encourage you to visit the Good Morning Girls Facebook page. The daily Scripture is posted there, and several ladies share their SOAPs in the comments underneath the graphic. You could make that your group for this time around.

      Blessings,
      Lyli

  5. Until this chapter & our daily scriptures, I had no idea how badly I had fallen into the continuous self-condemnation talk in my head. Not talk of GOD not loving me, but of how I should be doing more for my husband, kids, how I’m failing at this & that, etc. I was measuring myself against outside sources instead of the ONE who said “It is finished”. Armed with truth, I’m capturing thoughts & making them obedient to the cross.

Thank you for digging in Girls & ministering to us!

    • That is so true, Tambra! We need to view ourselves as God see us. Let that sink deep into your soul!

  6. Chapter 3 was written for me. Oh how often I listen to satans lies over Gods truths. That little voice of accusation, belittle meant, and how I fail to measure up in others eyes, when all along God is saying don’t base your worth on what others say or do, because ” It is finished”!! He has proven his love for me in while I was a sinner, he died for me! Greater love does not exist, I just have to believe it and continue to walk in truth.

  7. These voices push themselves in my head all the time. This scripture has really helped me and has given me understanding. That there is condemnation under Jesus Christ. Praise The Lord for that! So for now on when those voices start coming to me I’ll know just what to do by looking back at this scripture. Thank you ladies for this study it’s bringing me so much closer to The Lord with my walk with him. God bless you!

  8. Jaime McLeod says:

I remember last year when we were homeless in November, I thought I was being punished by God for something I had done in the past because I couldn’t see anything I was doing wrong at the time. After we got through our situation though I realized that God just wanted our trust, I mean 100% blindfolded trust. As a result, my faith grew and I feel even closer to God as well. So nice to read and understand that God won’t punish us. Thank you so much for this post, the book and this Bible study! God bless you all!

    • Trust in who HE is, even when we don’t understand what’s going on – we know that He is faithful and loving!

  9. Thank you for this study! It’s so simple and yet so profound. It is changing lives–mine and those in my group are blessed by it!

I wanted to ask. I have some friends in France I wanted to share the study with. I sent a copy of the German translation to a friend in Germany. I am thinking of how blessed they would be to read this book. I have some relatives who live here in the US who are Spanish speaking and would be blessed by the book’s message. I have a friend who lives in Sweden who is new to GMG and speaks French. I’d like to share the study with her as well. I know the get one give one is a very generous offer. I am wondering if each person who bought the book is able to share with a friend in another country/who speaks one of the languages it is translated to. I was wondering if I can share with more than one person. Please let me know.

  10. Oh my! Today’s post and this week’s chapter are really speaking to me.. I KNOW that Satan has already been defeated and I am no longer condemned for my sins. But there were some things several years ago that were beyond my control but affected my family negatively (hormone imbalances) and I still allow myself to listen to and believe the enemy WAY to often regarding those circumstances. I love the death row analogy!

  11. JESSICA says:

This study has come at the most needed time. At work I’m going through a leadership development program which involves a 360 review by my boss, direct reports, peers, etc and also having to give a presentation to the top leaders of the company. Through this entire process I have been made aware of areas I need to work on, weaknesses, feeling subpar to other leaders. Its been so very hard, I just feel so down on myself. Also, my husband recently got laid off and I don’t know why but I feel almost rejected on that front too even though it wasn’t me directly, I still feel that sense of ‘you’re not good enough’. I’m trying so hard to go through this study and really believe that God loves me no matter what, but which so much negative feedback lately its just been really hard. I almost don’t like how corporate america focuses on the bad, their has been good in their too and I know its just trying to make me a better leader but I’m just taking it so personal and I know I need to let it go. I shouldn’t be taking the opinions of others in this world so much, I need to look to how God see’s me. I know I will never be perfect, although I would love to be, and then hearing things I need to work on is just never fun or easy. Please lord help me to let it go and just look to you and your love for me. That is really all the matters anyways. Help me to feel better about myself again and see the good things. Even some of the feedback I got is about the way you made me I feel like. It’s hard to take feedback of this world and know if its truly something I need to work on or if it the world I need to let go of and cling to you. Please help me see the true purpose of this exercise. And thank you so much for this amazing community of women to help support each other along our journey on this world. Jess

    • Jess, have you ever read the children’s book ‘You Are Special,’ by Max Lucado? I read it to my children just yesterday, and the simple truths in that story are just what you are talking about – and what we’re studying in ‘You Are Loved’! About how the opinion of the One who made us is the only thing that really needs to matter in our lives. I’m glad you’re beginning to see yourself through His eyes – and I pray you can keep your focus there as you continue this process.

  12. Have any of you heard of Paul Washer? He gave a shocking youth message. Basically said American Christianity is almost totally wrong and we should examine ourselves to see if we’re in the faith. He even told a reporter we should be afraid all the time. I’ve never met him but read 2 of his sermons from sermon audio.com.

What if he’s right? What if we should be afraid all the time? I’m too scared to believe in this stuff about God’s love.

    • Hello Angela,

I have never heard of Paul Washer, but I can respond to what you’ve said with truths that come directly from the Bible.

I encourage you to read 1 John 4:14-19, and I’ll quote verse 18 here: “No fear exists where his love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves punishment. The person who lives in fear doesn’t have perfect love.”

Also, read Romans 8:28-39. Again, it’s too long of a passage to put the whole thing here, so I’ll just quote verses 38-39: “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love which Christ Jesus our Lord shows us. We can’t be separated by death or life, by angels or rulers, by anything in the present or anything in the future, by forces or powers in the world above or in the world below, or by anything else in creation.”

Don’t give up in this study – it sounds like you need it! Please continue with us, and read the verses each day, and let the truth they bring soak deeply into your soul.
