Week 3 – Your Mind

According to Romans 8: 5-6 there are really only two kinds of people. Those whose mind is focused on earthly things and those whose mind is focused on heavenly things. In the end nothing else matter.

We need to make sure we are not getting sidetracked by things that are insignificant, petty or worldly. Instead we need to focus our mind on things that are of value. Things like the person and work of Jesus, the convictions of the Holy Spirit and the words of scripture.

Week 3 Challenge

Let’s pray specifically this week for us to be more sensitive to the spirits working in our hearts, to the lessons he is trying to teach, the impressions he is making and the sin he is convicting us of.

  2. I only found this study on the 20th so was to late to sign up, I have been enjoying doing it every day. I get the reading through You Version every morning. I have never done the SOAP method before, wow I am getting so much out of it. I wanted to thank you ladies at GMG for the time and effort you a putting in.
I am so great full to God for my undeserved salvation and the way He so kindly changes my heart to be more like Him.
    Thanks again from Australia.

  6. After seeing the SOAP method in action through my study the last few weeks, my husband and his co-leader are teaching their small group of high school boys the SOAP study technique tomorrow night! The four of us (me, husband, Matt & his wife) spent several hours at brunch yesterday talking about Jesus and study and our stories and I told them about the Good Morning Girls and this study, and we talked about the method, and everyone is really excited to start using it! I can’t wait to hear the kids tomorrow night after they talk about how it works!

    • Beautiful Kaitlin,
My husband joins me in all the GMG Studies…. He was knew to the SOAP study method but loves it! Exciting to see how God moves in this small group of boys! Praise! ~Martha

  7. I really feel as though I blew an opportunity with a relationship in my life yesterday. I woke up still feeling bad about this and thinking, when will I ever learn, how I could have done better? It has also occurred to me this morning that I could not allow condemnation over this situation to creep in but accept conviction of the Holy Spirit, repent and ask God for his continual help to get this relationship to where he wants it. God can use this feeling of not doing my best to work his best in me. I know he is faithful and will help me as I take this to him. The enemy is a liar and I will not let him beat me up over this.

    • Thank you for sharing Michelle. It is SO hard when we know we have made a mistake, but you are on the correct path to healing and glorifying God with it!

  8. Today’s strudy was so wonderful. The video as well. I really struggle with am I good enough. I struggle with whether I am good enough. How can God love me when I am sol sinful and screw up so often. I read the study from today (also thru U version) I ended up using my Bible tho and after I read the assignment I read around the verses. Vs 10 says even tho I still experience the limitations of sin, I still experience life on God’s terms. 11 It stands to reason that God will do the same for me as He did for Christ, draw me to Him. Back in chapter 7 Paul talks about wanting to follow the Spirit but that predictably he got tripped up. Me too! I am so thankful that there is no condemnation for those who live in Christ. Praise God!!! I’m still struggling with the worthiness but God is speaking to me and I am slowly believing that it is true. I’m so thankful that He is patient and waits on me and meets me where I am.

  9. Cindy cox says:

  10. Bridgette says:

    Good Morning,

I just joined the group this morning. Read th word and what a blessing, to renew my mind in the Lord. I am in a struggle now and it is comforting to know, that I am not alone. Looking forward to this bible study. Blessings to all.

  11. I fell behind this week as my mind has been occupied with a tragedy. Beginning Saturday evening my mind has been reflecting on the knowledge that God has a plan (going back to week 1), and I’ve been trying to put that plan into something that makes sense. I know God’s plan isn’t for us to figure out, but when tragedy occurs, we automatically wonder why. And sometimes as we wonder, we question God and his plan, and sometimes we may even place blame on God. I’ve just now begun week 2, and I’m hoping that the Scriptures will enhance my mind so that I can begin to understand his word, and, as this week’s challenge says, “be more sensitive…to the lessons he is trying to teach, the impressions he is making….” I know this week’s tragedy happened for a reason, or many reasons, and I pray I come to understand the Lord’s purpose for it to occur.

  12. I haven’t devoted as much time to this as I would have liked. My friend Marie and I are doing it together, along with her daughter. I hope you ladies don’t mind that I borrowed the graphics you have to use in my own blog. The words are all mine. Just the graphics are yours.

My husband and I are going to do Week 4 together since it’s on the topic of marriage. I think it is something we really need since we have seemed to have begun to drift apart. I’m hoping that this will help a little.
