june 24 (1)

I know you’ve been waiting for this…our video interview with Jennie Allen!

You all, we had so much fun talking and answering your questions with Jennie that we talked for almost an HOUR! Ha! So instead of making you watch the whole interview in one setting…..come on, I know you’re busy during the day just like me, I’m dividing the interview up and sharing the questions one at a time for the remainder of the study! I can’t wait for you to watch it! :)

PLUS we had Jen join us too!!! The whole GMG gang was able to Skype in and answer some of your questions! Woot! We had a blast doing it…I’m sure you can tell!

Question: How do you balance being sold out for Jesus and keeping Him your number one priority yet embrace your need and desire for security?

Join in on our discussion! How would you answer this question?

  1. God is so amazing! This is just what I needed to hear in my present journey. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, jennie and GMG.

  2. “…there’s a rock at the bottom…” I have tested this and I know it to be true! Great video. Great teaching. Great God.

  3. Sandi H. says:

    Love this video! Great information!

  4. Good morning girls! Loved the video! Great way to start the day. For me it is changing where my security lies. I believe it was Jen that just came out and said it-Christ has to be our security. God created us with a need to feel secure- just not of the things in this world! The hymn came to my mind this morning “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.” His blood IS the one and only secure thing in this world and when I realize that then putting Him first becomes easier. It’s just a constant surrender! Can’t wait to see the rest of the videos ladies!

    • I agree, Anna! I LOVED the point Jen made about our need of security rests in Christ and Him alone. Everything else in this world is just like fool’s gold….it may look like the real thing…..but it’s not when tested! :)

  5. Lynnette says:

I appreciate Jennie’s comment at the beginning that we are all individuals so our lives are going to look different. We each have to figure out what our Christian walk is supposed to look like in our lives and trust the Lord for how my life looks. It reminds me not to strive for the lives I see others living or the routines I see them establishing in their homes but instead to love the fact that my husband is perfectly qualified to establish how our home looks. Many years ago that frustrated me as I felt it wasn’t good enough but over and over God revealed to me how right my husband was at establishing the things he did in our home and I am so thankful to have the thrill of digging into the Word and seeking God’s face to see what I need to surrender, overcome, and wrangle in MY life. Of course, it’s so encouraging to hear from my sisters in Christ as I can often relate to their struggles it in some way and that is helpful to know I’m not the only one with certain fears. (In fact, my husband is changing jobs right now and I’ve been Living in the Land and cultivating faithfulness for months and this week I’m on the verge of not being able to reign in my emotions and instead letting them rule me.) But each day is new and today He has given me good things to do so I’m going to start again. My verse is Psalm 37:3 “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.” Thanks for the encouragement ladies. I’m starting the study today.

    • Ohhh welcome, Lynnette! You can find all our previous weeks here at this location: http://www.goodmorninggirls.org/anything/

Yes, God has given us boundaries for how our marriages should look but within those boundaries our marriages can all look different. Surrendering and the “things” in life that we are called to surrender will look different for each woman too. What we must do is continually stay connected to Jesus by reading His Word, applying it to our lives and praying….inviting Him into our lives and asking Him to help us live the life He has called us to.

Praying for you Lynnette during your husbands job transition.

So glad you are joining us! ;)

  6. The reminder that Jennie gives us that “security will look different for each of us” is so needed. The danger, for me, lies in the big “feelings versus reality” debate in my heart and mind. If I focus on how swept up in the desire to surrender everything I’m feeling, without a thought to some of the greater realities, (a special needs child in your home, for instance), I run the risk of putting this family or these children that God allows me to be the steward of, at risk. I don’t believe He will call me to that without making it fully clear, equipping me to do so, and uniting my husband’s heart with mine (or mine with his) in this. That’s where I’m resting right now.

    • Yes, I agree Missy. A husband and wife are one in the eyes of the Lord so He wouldn’t call one to surrender and move to Africa or open an orphanage without also calling the other. Having said that, there are times when one spouse will respond quicker to God’s calling on their lives but then it’s the job of the other spouse to pray, wait on the Lord to move and of course discuss the issue but without nagging. :)

  7. I loved that Jennie shared her struggle right now. I have had my husband say nearly the exact same words to me. I am actually going to do our checkbook right now and was dreading it. Thanks Jennie.

I love this format, appreciate all the comments on the video, and I like the short segment, allowing us to ponder what we gleaned. Thanks

  8. That was wonderful!

Thank you for taking time to make the videos. Really encouraging and practical. :)

  9. I enjoyed the entire video but the part that impacted me the most was hearing how we have to surrender daily, monthly, yearly. It is not just a one time act and then you’re good forever. And I think what you surrender to God will probably change as well.
    Thanks Ladies!!!

    • Ohhh I’m so learning that in life Elosia! We have to live lives of daily surrender to God. One of my favorite quotes is from Ruth Bell Graham, she said that when she dies she wants “End of Construction. Thank you for your patience” written on her grave.

Ohhh we are always going to be “under construction” until the day we see Jesus face to face. :) We are all a work in progress! ;)

  10. that was great! loved listening to you girls talk and chat!!

  11. Florence says:

Awesome way to start my day…..thanks ladies. Still struggling with my “Anything”…..! It’s such a scary thing. Thank you for reminding me that this looks different for each of us. So looking forward to the next video.

  12. Ladies, This is an awesome study! The truth that He is & can be our only security now & at whatever time in the future sets us FREE!!!! Praise You Lord! He is using this study in my life & encouraging to my next step closer to the ANYTHING that He has for my life! God bless each of you for bring us this book, study & video interview.

  13. I just love and appreciate your hearts girls, your transparency, and it makes me so joyful to know I’m not alone in my thoughts and fears of balancing being sold out and my need for security! Thank you:)

  14. I just keep going back to the idea that my anything isn’t just one thing, but He makes it one thing *at a time*,and that as my priorities change, so can my anything. So, dying daily, killing that dream that as an “entitled American” I have been grown with, daily, and returning to His attention, trying to give Him my full attention, so that I can are HIS dreams for me, and join Him… It’s not easy, maybe the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and the deepest I’ve ever dug into myself, to find what that anything is.. But it’s been Oh, so worth it. To Him be the glory for all of our light and temporary struggles!

  15. These videos are going to be great – what an encouragement! I’m struggling a lot with this study – with things I’ve never really thought about. I’m questioning where I’m putting my “security” – and I’m honestly thinking it’s not in Jesus, but it my paycheck! I’ve said it before in my comments but I’m questioning whether I’m working PT because I want to be responsible or because I don’t trust in God. My husband is a full-time Realtor and loves what he does – but there are no guarantees each month, and boy is that scary! We have a good summer coming ahead of us, but what about the fall? The winter? Next year?

Good stuff, challenging in all the right ways! Blessings ladies.

  16. Shannon says:

Enjoyed the video and hearing from GMG and Jennie Allen. It is good to be reminded that the struggle is every day and everyone deals with it. I often tell my class at church this. But, I know that I needed to hear that for myself. I just said a prayer that said Lord help me to remember that you are all I need. Its easy to forget sometimes, when we step outside of her homes and into the world.

Security in comfort, success, control and a paycheck is definitely those anythings that I have to surrender. I loved when someone said “Christ has to be our security, everything else is fool’s gold.

  17. Kate Wilson says:

Thanks so much for this interview! It’s so rich with encouragement! Love it!

  18. Absolutely LOVED your discussion ladies! This study couldn’t have come at a better time in my life. It’s the message my heart needs to hear…EVERY DAY! Thank you all so much!

  19. Thanks for the video, was so encouraging to hera each one of you about your own personal walk with the Lord and coming to the conclusion that HE is our Security and in Him alone we are to rely on. Is a daily surrender to Him and His purpose in our lives. That is way Paul said in Romans 12:1-2 I urge you brothers in view of God’s mercies, to offer your bodies as living scarifices holy and pleasing to God, for this is your spiritual act of worship; DO NOT conformed any longer to the pattetn of THIS WORLD, but be transformed by the RENEWING (an ongoing process) of your mind, then you will be able to test and aprove what God’s will is; His good, pleasing and perfect will. We are in the process and He will continue until He can see himself in us, May His will be done in our lives and hearts as we look to please Him and rest in Him.,
Loving the study and growing each day. thanks..

  20. natalie says:

thank you for this video! so excited to hear more!!
i have also enjoyed reading all of these comments. :)
my thoughts on the way we balance keeping the Lord #1 in our life & our desire for security is to fully understand & believe that God is in complete control & we can rest in that. we can trust that whatever the Lord has planned for our life that He can use it for His glory & honor if we are useable. i heard this before & it has really stuck in my mind that tough times give us a platform to show God’s sufficiency. …But like you ladies were saying in the video, that takes a constant day by day, moment by moment surrender.

  21. While reading Monday’s post, Matt. 6:10 jumped out: YOUR kingdom, YOUR will. For me, I must daily (and continuosly throughout the day sometimes) dwell on His promises to us- through scripture and communion with Him. This life on earth is not the best we’re going to have; it’s not our final dwelling place! We have so much more waiting on us after this world and that is what I MUST take comfort in and find my security in. Every form of security in this world can and sometimes will fail us- Christ doesn’t. What more could we ask for?

  22. Thanks for the video ladies. I’ve been talking to my friend Rachel about how being so comfortable here in America is killing us for service to Christ. We’re realizing how we trust in things other than Christ for our security and how we have to fight to let them go.
