Luke {Week 3} – Point to Jesus

This week we are up to Luke chapter 3 and an interesting character enters the scene – it’s Zechariah and Elizabeth’s son – John the Baptist!  This is a man to pay attention to because look at how Jesus describes John the Baptist in Matthew 11:11

“Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

John the Baptist did not have a degree in theology or a influential job.  He wasn’t even ordinary. The Bible tells us he lived in the wilderness, wore camel hair and ate locusts…not exactly the “seeker friendly” type of guy!

But he pointed to Jesus - and it revolutionized the world!

His message was simple “Repent!”

But it was powerful.

We too can be used by God.

We don’t need fancy degrees or charismatic personalities – we just need to be willing to point to Jesus and give him all the glory!

So let’s do it! Let’s live lives that point to Jesus this week and be inspired by the boldness of John the Baptist.

  1. Courtney, I soooo look forward to yours and Angela’s videos each week! Each time I come away encouraged and challenged! I am thankful for the ministry He has given y’all here online.

  2. Thank you for your words! They are encouraging and true. Everyone is a sinner and we all need to be reminded of it daily so that we will constantly seek Him.
Thank you for this ministry that you have provided for us.

Awesome word! Thank you for all you ladies do!

  4. What a great and encouraging message Courttney, thank you for sharing and being faithful to God and not steering away from that or sugar coating it.

  5. Thank you for the encouragement. I am so thankful you are speaking truth even when some respond by being rude. It shocks me how poorly Christians behave sometimes. But because you are stepping out there knowing attacks will come, I feel stronger to speak truth as well.

  6. What I got from verses 5&6 was that God is all powerful….. He can and will do anything to make His glory known to all men. Nothing is too big for Him!

  7. I want to thank you for posting those extra study links. When they are there, I click on them throughout the week. When they aren’t there, I don’t. Which I know is so silly because of course I could find them myself, but I just tend to not do that. So, thank you so much! I never regret the extra time I spend reading through John Piper or John MacArthur’s messages.

  8. Good reminder that we must strive to speak the Truth in Love no matter how others feel about it. After all, JEsus did the same.
