Your Adventure Begins When You Say “Yes” to God- {Luke 2}

Welcome back to week 2 of our Living Like Jesus: Luke 1-8 online Bible study!

I’m so glad you’re joining us!

Let’s get started!

One word that stood out to me as I read and mediated on Luke 2 this past week was {Obedience}.

Mary and Joseph were both obedient to God and His plan for their lives…..even when they didn’t understand the plan.

When I was a little girl, I remember wondering why God choose Mary instead of me to be the mother of Jesus. “What was so special about her?” I remember thinking. Now as a mother myself, I see one of the reasons why God choose Mary…..she was obedient. I love reading her response to the angel when he told her she would have a child…

“I am the Lord’s servant.” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.”- Luke 1:38

Mary didn’t understand God’s plan for her life at the time she said these words…..yet she trusted and obeyed Him anyway.

What is God wanting you to trust and obey Him with today? What actions can you take this week to live more like Mary and obey God with your life….walking with Him in obedience.

I firmly believe God has an exciting adventure for all of us…..but we first have to take that step of faith….that step of obedience and trust Him. Our wonderful adventures begin with one step, are you ready to take it?

My prayer for us this week is that we will put our faith into action and like Mary….obey even when we don’t see the whole plan.

As we read chapter 2, notice how obedient Mary and Joseph were, even though they weren’t perfect, God still did something mighty through them for His glory ……God can do something mighty through you too!

Here is this week’s video….I hope you enjoy!

(If you can’t see the video click here.)

This week we will be reading Luke 2……here is our reading plan.

i have verified my subscription twice as well.

    please send me e-mails!

    thanks heather

  2. Thank you Angela….so thankful for you and GMG! I KNOW God brought me here…from a life of not putting Him first…letting everything else in the way! Mary was a true servant…just in awe of her true servant-ship and obedience to God…she was the vessel for Jesus Christ…what an honor…

I’m in the same boat. :( The same thing happened to me last study as well. I have no idea why I don’t receive the emails. I’ve even checked my email filter, junk mail, etc. When I click on any buttons to sign up it takes me to podcasts. It’s crazy! I sooooo badly want to start this study. I’ve been reading anything GMG posts via Facebook and Pinterest. GMG, PLEASE send me the Luke study info. Maybe from a different email address?
    Have a blessed day everyone!

  4. I loved what you said in the video Angela!!! I am really being blessed and convicted by this study. Thanks to you all for sharing it with us.

  5. I know I was brought here for a reason. God has been slowly dragging me back and I like a child have been resisting learning new things. I haven’t read today’s study, but it seems like the message of obedience is coming from all sides. It was in the sermon and sunday school lesson. So, God I hear you!

Thanks again to GMG for offering this ministry.

I really enjoy this time to share with other women who are in ways the same in other ways I can learn from there lives.

  7. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to God’s word. I am a older Christian and it is so exciting to see young women so on fire for The Lord. Continue the good work.

  8. I have been holding back from an adventure God has put in my life…reluctantly taking the next step with a heavy heart–annoyed spirit…and measured giving…and I know it is wrong but I can’t seem to open up to the adventure and give of myself cheerfully…..your post is another reminder…

  9. Love the blog posts and studying the Bible with my girls! One small thing… As I have read some of the comments, and thought the same last time I did a GMG Bible study in early 2011 and now this one in Luke~ this: I am able to find the links to the study and download, figure out how to subscribe to get the blogposts by email, etc… But, I do agree, something about the format they first come in is confusing. It’s all the click here, here, and here… which each take you somewhere that you still have to search to the bottom of the page in small print to find out exactly what to do. You ladies that lead this are wonderful, bright, amazing, but please simplify this for our groups. I have 9 ladies in my GMG group, all but one doing a GMG Bible study for the first time. Very bright women, but so many of them have have a hard time with this, and STILL aren’t getting the blog posts through email, and I had to download and print the study for a couple of them, as they never were able to find it. Love you gals!

  10. Hi Heather & Christie!!! I’m soooo sorry you are not receiving our emails!!! Would you mind emailing me at LoveGodGreatly@gmail.com and I’ll see what I can do for you!!! :)

I agree, April, love Mary’s heart and her desire to serve God. :)
Thanks for joining us, Heather! :)
Beth- I want you to know that we pray for God to bring the women He wants into our studies each session….you are here for a reason…and I’m so glad you’re joining us! :)
Susan and Donna- thank for your encouraging comments today! :)Love having you join us! :)

Amber- I’m praying for you today, dear friend! Just remember, God loves you more than you can even imagine and I know He has great things in store for you….pray and confess your feelings to Him….be honest and let Him know your fears….He loves you and wants to help! :)

  11. Thanks so much for letting us know, Sherri! We are currently working on getting a blog design…..hope to have it up and running by the next session!!! :)

  12. Jenny Giltner says:

This is where I need to be too. I try so much to be obedient to God but some days are harder than others. Thank you so much for the study.

  13. Love this! Thx Angela for sharing!

  14. Danielle M. says:

Thank you for being so candid with your thoughts and feelings! Reading today’s email and watching the video for this week, I began to think about my obedience. I realized, through the readings last week and some current events in my family, that my way to be more obedient to God right now is to give up control. I never had control anyway, so why think that I did?! God is always in control. He knows our steps. I cannot control anyone else’s actions, thoughts, etc. I can choose to give up all control over God. To treat what He’s given me, my husband and children, as a gift and to love them, but not control them. Guide my children, yes. Help my husband, yes. But put them under my thumb and control them, no. I pray that God will do a work in me!

  15. Jessica Zeable says:

Hi there! I subscribed to GMG e-mails and am in a group for the study, but I still have never received e-mail materials. I tried re-subscribing, but it said I was already registered so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  16. I’m not sure where you’re getting your info, but good topic.
I needs to spend a while studying more or
figuring out more. Thanks for excellent information I was in search of this information for my mission.

  17. Spot on with this write-up, I actually feel this web site needs far more attention.
I’ll probably be returning to read through more, thanks for the info!
