Advent {Love} – Week 2

“God Is Love.” ~ I John 4:8

This week we begin Week 2!!! And it’s a fun week because we get to put our love into action!

In this video, I talk about “Random Acts of Kindness” and spreading the love of Jesus at Christmas! I also share a little more about the Jesus stocking (which you see in the above photo) but let me caution you. Do not feel like you have to do all of these ideas.  We are giving many ideas here just so you have options.  Pray over what is best for your family and your calendar.  Christmas is a season to spread the love of Christ but it’s also a time when we make sure those inside our four walls also feel loved and tended to.  Oh, it’s a tricky balance, being a wife and mother isn’t it!  Follow the Spirit’s (and your husband’s) leading as you reach out in love.

For “Random Acts of Kindness” ideas check out the list in our ebook!

Another great resource I mentioned in the video is Courtney from LilLightOMine.com and her list of “100 Ways to Light Up Your Community with Kindness.”  Pray over what fits your family best and then GO for it!!!!

Also, don’t forget – Good Morning Girls is trying to raise $10,000 to build wells in Liberia!  Here’s the info on it again:

How much does one well cost?

  • ONE dollar gives ONE Liberian clean water for ONE year.  How many people can you help?
  • Purchase a water well for a community in Liberia for $3000.  The average well serves 1000 people!
  • Purchase a bio-sand water filter for one family in rural Liberia for $102.  You can give an entire family clean water!

How Can You Get Involved?

  • Add The Last Well to your Christmas list.
  • Talk with your family about The Last Well and give a family gift.
  • Give up a Christmas gift(s) and instead donate the money to The Last Well.
  • Invite your children to give up a Christmas gift(s) and donate the money to The Last Well.
  • Have a “Happy Birthday Jesus” party with your friends and their kids. (I talk about this idea in our Advent eBook on page 40) Instead of having children bring gifts to donate, have them donate the money online and learn more about the need for clean water in Liberia, building awareness of how other children live around the world.
  • Tell friends about THE LAST Well by sharing this graphic on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, informing more people of this wonderful organization and the great need of physical water and the “Living Water” in Liberia!
  • PRAY! Pray God will use us mightily in this nation for HIS GLORY!

Please join us as we strive to make a difference in our generation for Christ by serving one of the poorest countries in the world.

I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”- Matthew 25:40

And I’m thrilled to share – we are almost half-way to our goal!!!

Way to go ladies – you are so amazing! Thank you to those who gave.

We pray that God will provide the rest.

Chime In: We’d love to hear what Random Acts of Kindness you are doing this year or what you have done in the past in the comment  section – so please share!!!

  3. Martha – I just checked the link and it’s working for me. I’m not sure why it’s not working for you? :( I’m so sorry for this inconvenience.

  4. I have decided to do a Random Act of Kindness for every day in December. It kind of has me nervous because life gets busy and I really want to make sure I do one each day. So far, I have left quarters at the laundromat and donated clothing. A few things I would like to do at some point this month:

    Donate food at food shelf
Leave gift cards hidden in books at the bookstore
Donate a phone card to someone in need
Write post-it notes for strangers to find
Donate a knitted hat to a cancer patient
    Leave encouraging messages on windshields
    Donate books to library
    Send cards to soldiers
Make blankets for animals at animal shelter
Buy Christmas gifts for Family Center to distribute
Leave coupons near products at grocery store
Write a letter to someone who made a difference in my life
    Leave a generous tip
Crochet a scarf for Special Olympics
Leave my favorite book at Caribou Coffee for someone else to enjoy

  5. Wow! What an amazing list Annabelle – I love your heart to love others – Beauti{full}!

  7. Hi! I subscribed to the blog through google, but I don’t seem to be able to find the link to download the book. Because last weeks reading were listed in a post I was able to use this wonderful study for my quiet time, but just remembered this morning that I don’t have this weeks readings! Is there someone I could email for help with this? Thanks so much in advance.

  8. Yesterday our pastor said “If you want to do something great for God, do something great for someone else. Only in Christianity is this modeled. ” wow.

  9. To continue from above… I’m naturally introverted and sometimes find my weak self afraid to do most of these spontaneous ideas for people I dot know! But God is LOVE. And guess who helped me make a list and who will hold me/us accountable to DO the things? My 5 and 3 year old. Praise Him for their hearts.

  10. Erin – I just emailed the Advent Ebook and Bible Reading Plan to you :)

  11. I love the handwritten letter RAOK. Just the other day I was putting away a box of my fall decorations and saw a box with things I saved that were important to me while growing up. I took it down and looked through it. I found letters from my Grandma and Grandpa written back in the 80s. When they moved to a different state I would write them and send them copies of my report card. Of course the only way to do it then was snail mail. Those letters are such treasures to me and I am so glad I saved them. I am sure your children will feel the same way.

  12. beverly fulgham says:

I cannot locate the scripture readings for Advent- week 2. I am also having difficulty finding the Advent ebook to download. Would you send me these things.

  13. I LOVE your mantel, simple and lovely!

  14. I love the idea of the Jesus stocking. We were debating about using stockings this Christmas, but I think this is such a great concept.
Thanks for letting us into your home to ‘see’ and listen to your beautiful heart.
    God bless you.

  15. Our local Christian radio station, JOYfm, has challenges listeners to pay for someone’s meal behind you in the drive-thru. I’ve printed it off and plan on “spreading the joy” this holiday season!

    God bless!
