{Powerful Testimony} The God of Hope

I love it when God’s Word becomes alive, when you hear stories or experience first hand the truth of God’s Word. Romans 15:13 came alive to me yesterday as I watched the following video. I wasn’t planning on doing another blog post this weekend…..but I felt compelled to share this story with you since we have been talking about hope this past week, the hope that Christ brought into our broken world so many years ago.

Personally, I’ve been following Michelle and AJ’s story thru a family member who had called a few months back asking me to pray for them. My heart broke as I heard the diagnosis of their unborn daughter, and as a mother to 3 little girls and my own experience of losing my first child through miscarriage, my heart and mind could barely comprehend what they might be going through. All I could do was pray…and so I did.

What touched me as I watched this video was the testimony of AJ and Michelle as they shared how they had to change their view of hope and what hope really is….that this world is broken but because of Christ, they have the hope of heaven and all this hurt, all this brokenness will one day be gone. I had an “aha moment” when Michelle shared how she finally came to a point of surrender and trust, and through her choice of surrendering and trusting, she found peace.

“May the God of HOPE fill you with JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.”- Romans 15:13

Are you seeing it? The connection between what AJ and Michelle experienced and what Romans 15:13 states? We serve a God of HOPE, a God who holds a better tomorrow in His hands. A God who fills us with joy and peace when we open up our lives, our hands and TRUST Him. When we surrender. When we turn our eyes upward and focus on eternity…..the hope that we have in Him.

“We are to be grateful and joyful people because we have such an immovable, fantastic hope. True joy is setting your heart on unmovable objects. There are only two unmovable objects that I know of…God and heaven.”- Jennie Allen

It seems to me God really hasn’t changed much in 2,000 years, He still loves to do miracles through infants and mothers who surrender their lives to Him.

  7. Thank you for sharing this. That is so amazing! Love what she said about praying and not really asking for His will because she didn’t want to know what His will was. So many times I do the same thing. He really has it all planned out and He will give me the strength to make it through whatever it is. Ultimately He will be glorified in the situation and someone will receive a blessing.

  8. I signed up for your blog yesterday (Saturday) but have not received an email yet. I did check my Spam folder as requested.

  10. Oh my goodness!!!! This is so crazy, I know God is speaking to me through this video. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years now and have even done some fertility but I have struggled through this journey off and on wondering if I’ll ever get pregnant….I subscribe to good morning girls and women living well but I don’t always read the posts, I read this one today and I know God is speaking to me because the little girl’s name is the EXACT name my husband and I have picked out for a girl YEARS ago!! And that is not a common name nor is that a coincidence! Wow! Thank you for sharing!

I know it’s getting late, but I would still love to join in the study. I have tried unsuccessfully to join the blog and cannot find the email even in my junk folder. If you could get the link to the ebook somehow, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I hope I’m not violating some rule by posting here on this ladies’ site. My wife loves your ministry and uses several of your resources to teach a ladies’ Bible study at our church. I am the pastor, and I wanted to do a message on Hope this Sunday, so I was evesdropping on this post and the one on Hope in the Advent devotional. Truth is, most of those in the pews are women, and so I needed some perspective. Apparently, stories of football and Tim Tebow don’t register with those of the female persuasion. Anyways, this video really got me. What an incredible testimony of the reality of God and His care for His children. I was wondering what church AJ and Michelle attend. It sounds like a really healthy church that loves each other like a family. Just curious. Thankful for your ministry,
    Pastor Adam
