I love it when God’s Word becomes alive, when you hear stories or experience first hand the truth of God’s Word. Romans 15:13 came alive to me yesterday as I watched the following video. I wasn’t planning on doing another blog post this weekend…..but I felt compelled to share this story with you since we have been talking about hope this past week, the hope that Christ brought into our broken world so many years ago.
Personally, I’ve been following Michelle and AJ’s story thru a family member who had called a few months back asking me to pray for them. My heart broke as I heard the diagnosis of their unborn daughter, and as a mother to 3 little girls and my own experience of losing my first child through miscarriage, my heart and mind could barely comprehend what they might be going through. All I could do was pray…and so I did.
What touched me as I watched this video was the testimony of AJ and Michelle as they shared how they had to change their view of hope and what hope really is….that this world is broken but because of Christ, they have the hope of heaven and all this hurt, all this brokenness will one day be gone. I had an “aha moment” when Michelle shared how she finally came to a point of surrender and trust, and through her choice of surrendering and trusting, she found peace.
“May the God of HOPE fill you with JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.”- Romans 15:13
Are you seeing it? The connection between what AJ and Michelle experienced and what Romans 15:13 states? We serve a God of HOPE, a God who holds a better tomorrow in His hands. A God who fills us with joy and peace when we open up our lives, our hands and TRUST Him. When we surrender. When we turn our eyes upward and focus on eternity…..the hope that we have in Him.
“We are to be grateful and joyful people because we have such an immovable, fantastic hope. True joy is setting your heart on unmovable objects. There are only two unmovable objects that I know of…God and heaven.”- Jennie Allen
It seems to me God really hasn’t changed much in 2,000 years, He still loves to do miracles through infants and mothers who surrender their lives to Him.
All Glory to God!
Love God Greatly!
