Week 3- 1 John 2:1-11

Today we are starting week 3 of our study of 1 John!

For those of you who may not know me, I’m Angela, Courtney’s blogging partner here on Good Morning Girls. For the past 6 weeks I”ve been on maternity leave so you’ve only been hearing from Courtney. Starting today, Courtney and I will be alternating blogging on Good Morning Girls every other week. I’m so excited to be back and sharing what I’m learning in God’s Word with each you!

If you’re like me, you can’t wait to see your friend’s new little baby so for those of  you who have missed some of the pictures I’ve shared on our Good Morning Girls Facebook page…here’s a look at my newest addition.

The day before I delivered.

Introducing……Brinnley!!! Super excited to finally meet this sweet baby girl!

All 3 of my precious girls!!! I always wanted to be in Women’s Ministry….now I have my own personal group!!! Hehehe!

Just for your viewing pleasure!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures…..now on to week 3 of 1 John!

For those of you who are just now joining us, you can download the Free e-study guide here and either print it or use it as a guide as you write in your own journal.

This week we will be reading verses 2:1-11 in the book of 1 John.

If you would like to further study the verses we will be reading each day, here are 3 on-line commentaries that go along with this week’s reading.

1. John MacArthur

a. 1 John 2:1- Our Divine Defense Attorney

b. 1 John 2:2- The Sacrifice that Satisfied

c. 1 John 2:3- Certainty of Christian Assurance, Pt 1

d. 1 John 2:4-6- Certainty of Christian Assurance, Pt 2

e. 1 John 2:7-11- Live by a New Love

2. John Piper

a. 1 John 2:1-2- Jesus Christ Is an Advocate for Sinners

b. 1 John 2:3-6- Obedience Confirms Our Standing in God

3. Charles Spurgeon

a. 1 John 2:1 The Sinner’s Advocate

b. 1 John 2:3-4- Sincerity and Duplicity

c. 1 John 2:6- In Him: Like Him

Remember: Good Morning Girls is a place of grace. Don’t stress out if you miss a day or two, that’s why we have a reflection day on Fridays and why we don’t have reading assignments on the weekends. Use those days to catch up if you need! Most importantly, REACH OUT!!! Be transparent and let your group know if you are struggling getting your quite time in each day! I know for me personally with having a 6 week old that it’s much harder right now in this season of my life finding the time to be in God’s Word each day. Reach out to your group and let them know how they can be lifting you up in prayer each day!

And always remember that I’m lifitng you all up during my “girl time” with Brinnley each night!!!!!

Never forget……YOU are LOVED by an ALMIGHTLY GOD!!!

Love God Greatly!

  21. Congrats on the new baby! I also just gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Aaliyah Corrine! On September 28th, 2011 at 1:21AM at 7 pounds 1 oz and 20 inches long. She is my second gift from God, I was in labor for an hour and fifty minutes and I gave birth to her without an epidural or any pain meds. The photos are beyond amazing and beautiful! I love the headband and i’m itching to find one for my little princess! We just had our first photoshoot yesterday afternoon and it went great! Congrats again and I love the name! So unique!
    God Bless,

  22. Oh, she’s gorgeous! Just like her mama…
