{Week 3} Ministry of Motherhood Book Club

Today we are starting week 3 of our Good Morning Girls’s Ministry of Motherhood book club with Sally Clarkson! This week we will be learning about the wonderful gift of grace!

I’d like to share with you one particular quote that touched my heart from this week’s reading:

“Each of us is designed by God to whisper his words to the hearts of our children so they will feel the call of God in their own lives to become ‘fishers of men.’ Yet we must always remember that our children, like Peter, will never be perfect. Each of them needs for us, like Jesus, to extend to him or her the gift of constant love, grace, and forgiveness. And we can only do this by relying continually on the grace of our own relationship with the Lord.” - Sally Clarkson

This week I’d like for us to focus on ways we can extend the gift of grace to our children, husband, friends etc. I love how Sally reminds us that our children will never be perfect……and neither will we for that matter. We ALL need to learn to extend the gift of grace to each other. Let’s be mindful this week to exercise the gift of grace with those in our lives. Let’s look for ways to extend grace and pray for opportunities to exhibit grace to our children to help them understand what grace means.

Today we are going to watch part 1 of Sally’s video on the Gift of Grace! I pray you are as blessed by her words on Grace as much as I have been!

  1. She did an amazing job describing Grace. I hope I can show grace to my children I’m the “hurry up” kind of mom and somedays a little too passive. Oh how I needed this!

  2. That was awesome the way she describe grace. This takes practice and the more you do it the better you get at showing it.

  3. I have been the hurry up mom a lot. I’m so busy that I forget to stop and slow down and enjoy my children. This is so wonderful to hear.

My oldest watched with me and wanted to know if this was a “Sunday School Lady” like the one he loves to watch on Jelly Telly and the What’s in the Bible Series.

  4. I, too, am the ‘hurry up’ mom. I definitely need to extend more grace to my family. Can’t wait to hear part two.

  5. I think every mom can be the “hurry-up” mom from time to time. :) I know I’m guilty of it too. But I love how Sally always brings it home to us on a practical level. It’s about our relationships with our children and our relationships with Jesus. I love how she challenges me as a mother to listen more, to be more patient, to be more understanding and to extend more grace. :)

    Love God Greatly!

  6. I come from one of those ‘harsh’ backgrounds. I have found that my parenting style has been of the ‘hurry up’ kind. It has been really hard to give what I never received. Over the years I’ve missed lots of opportunities to give grace to my children. I am trying hard to turn things around and praying that I can ‘reverse’ any damage I did to my own children.. this cycle must be broken somehow! Sally gives me hope and encouragement to continue to let God’s grace permeate my being and spill over into my motherhood.

  7. Amber R. says:

What an amazing video and encouragement!! I so needed this as I tend to be a “hurry up” kind of mom and I am praying the Lord can help me extend more grace to my family since God extends His grace to me every day!!

  8. Lisa V. says:

I’m just in awe of the wisdom and the knowledge that Sally is sharing with us. I watch and listen and think “can I really do this too? Can I be this mom that extends grace and successfully shepards her children? And I think now, yes I can.” Now that I see what I do as a ministry, as a responsibility that Christ has entrusted to me as a mom, I’ve seen change already in my patience and my giving of my time with my children. It’s wonderful and I feel like a better mom. I can’t wait for the next Sally video.

  9. samantha says:

This video really spoke to my heart. Wow the gift of Grace through Christ Jesus. I am amazed and pray he continues his work in me.
