I’ve been focusing all day on James 4:14.
…What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
In Job 14:5 we learn God has determined the number of our days. Each day that I live I am one day closer to day number 0. It’s a sobering thought I know! My time here on earth is limited not limitless. I need to make the most out of the days God has given me. This week I asked you to think about the legacy God wants to leave through your life. I’ve been pondering and praying over that challenge all day. What type of legacy do I want to leave? What’s my goal? How do I want my family to remember me? What’s most important in the legacy I want to leave?
The most import thing I want my family to remember is that I loved God with my life.
I want my girls to remember a mother who:
- loved God with all her heart, mind and soul
- loved their daddy and was crazy about him
- loved them and never missed a day without telling them at least a 100 times
- loved being their mommy and showed it
- leaned hard on Jesus
- wasn’t perfect and showed them how to ask for forgiveness
- loved reading God’s Word
- loved everyone God placed in her life
- put others before herself
- was giving
- was grace-filled
- was obedient to God’s will in her life
- was kind and humble
- was their #1 fan
- was so in love with God that they couldn’t help but fall in love with God too!
That’s how I want to be remembered. I want to leave a legacy that inspires my family to love God passionately with all their hearts, minds and souls.
“Our days are numbered. One of the primary goals in our lives should be to prepare for our last day. The legacy we leave is not just in our possessions, but in the quality of our lives. What preparations should we be making now? The greatest waste in all of our earth, which cannot be recycled or reclaimed, is our waste of the time that God has given us each day.”- Billy Graham
