Week 9 Our Lives Are A Vapor

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan today. My heart is breaking because of their loss, because of the pain they are going through. From one mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend to another…..I hurt for them. This week in James we are reminded that our lives are “but a vapor”…….sadly this past weekend we saw the reality of James’s words. We all received a wake-up call….invest our lives wisely, make a difference today, no one is guaranteed tomorrow.

Week 9 Challenge: Mediate on every verse. Slow down, and listen. What is God speaking to you through these verses? Our lives are but a vapor. How can we maximize our time here? Is there something that God is wanting you to do? Is there something that God is wanting you to give up? Listen to Him. Pray. Dig deep this week. Seek Him and draw near. We are here on this earth for just a moment. What legacy is God wanting to leave through your life? What action steps do you need to take to begin that legacy? Share what God is speaking to you with your GMG group and together pray for each other. Pray and encourage each other to be obedient to God’s call on your lives.

  1. Is it possible for me to get the SOAP printouts for week 10? I am leaving to go out of town on Thursday and will not have access to a printer next Monday.

  2. Angela, I have really had on my heart “what can I do for God”. I pray and am waiting for His answer. I’m scared I’m not going to hear Him or I’m going to miss my opportunity being caught up with just everyday life. My heart is aching and leaping to do something, to be involved in something that will bring people to know God. I have LOVED being involved with Good Morning Girls. I feel I am a part of something making a difference. May you and Courtney be as blessed as you have blessed me through your work online and through your examples of walking with God.

  3. You know, Angela, the over all theme of what God has been speaking to me for the past month, is that time is short. Whether it’s physical death, or whether He will be returning soon to rapture His church, I just keep getting those words spoke to me over and over…”time is short.” When you are looking at each day instead of decades, your priorities really shift and change. I just keep thinking…if I live for Christ as though each day is my last, what do I have to lose if it isn’t? NOTHING! But if I live each day as though I have decades left, what do I have to lose if today is my last day? A LOT!

  4. Angela & Courtney:
This study of James has been very powerful for me and others in my group. It has been wonderful to all being reading the same verses and sharing how God is moving our hearts and convicting us in areas where we need to give Him dominion! I don’t want it to end!

Have you found this method to be as useful in other books of the Bible as well? I’d love to hear if you’ve done it with other NT or OT books.

  5. Angela,

LOVE your name!!! Hahaha! Of course, I’ll try and email Week 10 directly to you. :) I’d be happy to do it early for you! ;)

    Love God Greatly!

    -another Angela :)

  6. Sweet Stephanie,

I LOVE your heart! God will use you! Trust Him, He will answer you! We all have different seasons we are in at different times in our lives. Some seasons we are to grow where God has us planted, in our homes. Some seasons He calls us to go….maybe even to the ends of the earth. If your desire and prayer is to be used by God…then don’t doubt that He will! :) Praying for you friend! ;)

    Love God Greatly!

  7. Kristi-
I think having that perspective is so very important. I totally agree, our time here on earth is short…living each day for Christ is the best way to use the days God has given us!

So glad to hear you are learning sooo much! This is the first time we have used the S.O.A.P. method here with Good Morning Girls, but others have used it to study all the books of the bible. :)

    Thanks for commenting!

    Love God Greatly!

  8. Angela,
Thanks! I hate to ask, but I’m a bit of a type A personality, lol, and like things just so….it would kill me to do it on blank paper because I would have to rewrite it, lol!!!
