Women In The Word Wednesday

I love how God uses my children to make verses come alive. I don’t know if your Sunday school does this or not, but at my church every Sunday my girls get a stamp on their hand if they have been good that morning. My girls LOVE getting stamps on their hands……so much in fact that they press their two hands together to “multiply” the stamp. Sometimes if the stamp was extra “juicy”, in their words, they will even try and stamp their arm if there is still enough “juice.” Well this past Sunday after church my husband and I decided to take the family out to Subway and get a bite to eat before heading home. As we were standing in line waiting to have our sandwiches made, my oldest daughter who just turned 5, leaned over to me and said, “Mommy, look at that man, he must be REALLY good! Look at ALL the stamps he has on his arms!!” Ahhhh out of the mouth of babes. I love how innocently children see people. Some I’m sure have looked upon this same man with both his arms fully tattooed and thought less of him……not more of him. But James 4:12 reminds us that we are not to stand in judgment of our neighbors. Only God can judge and He is the only one who truly knows each of our hearts. When we fail to love others the way God calls us to we actually break God’s law of love. I want my eyes to be like Jesus’s, I want to see people and love people the way that He does. I want to choose to see the good in them instead of the bad. I want to be an encourager instead of a discourager. I want to be like Jesus each and everyday…….I love how God is using my girls to teach me how to be more like Him.

There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy.
But you- who are you to judge your neighbor?

This is just SO precious. I must confess, I saw a man today without a shirt at the gas station and covered in tatoos. I wasn’t as gracious in my thoughts as your daughter. Thanks for the lesson today!

Oh, how absolutely precious, Angela! It is amazing how sweetly children can view things. They have not been fully poluted by the world’s ideals yet! Thank you so much for sharing this..it is such a great reminder!

I chose to comment anonymously, because my words may embarrass/hurt someone close to me. While I am not officially part of any group here, I do receive the overall group’s emails. I read them (and view the videos) each time they arrive. This one, in particular, caught my attention.

Someone close to me is doing something terribly wrong – an ugly sin (from God’s word, not my judgment). This sin involves more than one person and I have found myself thinking horrible thoughts about all the people involved. Thank you for reminding me that Jesus loves each of them, even though they sin. And that is what He requires of me as well. Though, I confess, it is very difficult; made even more so by the severity of the nature of the sin involved.

Please say a prayer for me that I may be able to love the person close to me as God loves them. Please pray that I will refrain from judging the others involved (whom I’ve never met), but to pray for their repentance instead.

Thank you for reminding me that judgment is reserved for God.

Thanks for your sweet comments Courtney, Alison and Kristi! ;)

Anonymous- Please know that I am joining you in praying for this individual(s). Praying for someone is the most powerful thing we can do for them! I will also pray for you too. We are called to love the sinner, not the sin…..I know that can be hard to do at times. Remembering that we are all sinners in need of God’s grace helps though. Praying, praying, praying tonight!

Love God Greatly!

Loving this week, once again. I just wanted to share a song that sprang to mind as I read the verse this morning about humbling ourselves before the Lord. I heard it as a young girl – maybe early teens? I found it again on youtube!

Thanks for sharing-what a cute story.I love children’s sweet innocence and non-judgemental spirit! I am actually learning something similar to that this week and this is the second or third time I have heard this recently so God must think I need to hear it. I recently heard a pastor share on the radio “Love always believes the best about others” very convicting and your story just reminded me of that again:)
