What Is God’s Purpose In Trials?

If I could, I’d reach out and give each and everyone of you a big hug! Thank you for such an amazing week last week! God is soooo GOOD! I can’t begin to tell you how encouraged Courtney and I are to hear how you’re enjoying using the S.O.A.P. method! I just want you to know that those of you who left comments last week on our blog or on our Facebook page, each and everyone of your comments touched our hearts! I LOVED reading about each of your groups. I loved reading how you can see God’s hand in who He put in your group! Being apart of GMG is such a wonderful blessing and an answer to prayer!

This week we are starting week 2 in our 12 week series. My prayer for each of you is that as we dig further into James this week:
1. God will give you a hunger for His Word.
2. You will make it a priority in your life to be in His Word.
3. He will open your eyes to new truths in His Word!

I’d like to share with you a quick video of what I learned last week as we read about God’s purpose in trails.

If you are following along with us in James don’t forget to download this week’s S.O.A.P. print-out. This week, we are reading James 1:12-18

  2. Angela – firstly, you are beautiful! :)

Thank you so much to you and Courtney for leading us through this study.

I’ve been a Christian for 17 years and, to my shame, I’ve never been regular in Bible study. I’d do it here and there and there, but never every day. I’m thrilled that with the method GMG uses, I’m able to put God FIRST everyday before I go to work. I love it. I love the S.O.A.P. method and the accountability. God is already doing miracles in my life!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    Love,
    Ali

What a great video Angela! I truly felt like you were speaking directly to me. I am where I am right now because of all the trials I have been through, with God right there beside me. I have seen firsthand all that you are talking about. The reason I started my own blog is because I feel certain that I am supposed to tell other people what He has done for me. Thank you for giving me such powerful confirmation and affirmation!

  4. I’m really enjoying this study. I also haven’t done regular bible studies and this seems like a great way to jump in. Thank you!

  5. Such an encouraging message today, Angela. I have a cousin who, along with her family, is going through perhaps the greatest of trials right now. Her life is so precious, but her health is severely compromised. She has Crohn’s and is in desperate need of a small bowel transplant.

Sadly, she developed a persistent infection in a line site in her arm a year ago, and just this past week, due to its persistence, my cousin was placed in hospice. She’s only 39, is married and has 3 bright and incredible kids (ages 19, 17, and 13). The James study is so timely as my church and I pray for my cousin and her family.

Thank you for getting my week off to a Christ-centered start. You and Courtney are having such a beautiful impact in my life.
    Blessings,
    Toni

  6. What an awesome reminder that not only will he make us stronger in our trials but He will also give us Testimony of His strength His love! The world around us right in our own neighboorhoods are full of hurt and pain. May we be the light in the darkness and share with them they do not have to do it alone. There is a God that can get them through this if you trust Him.

    Our God is so good!

    blessings & giggles

  7. I am really enjoying the James study *and* the SOAP method. :)

I also awarded GMG a Versatile Blog award on my blog. I imagine you are too busy for that sort of thing, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate GMG!

  8. Sonya, Ali, Regina, Jeanie and Zekesmom10- thank you to each of you for your very sweet comments today! :) I love reading what you are getting out of the verses that we share each week! Thanks for blessing and encouraging me today! :)

Lisa Marie- I actually had a post I had already written and was ready to post for today…..then I went to church on Sunday and the sermon was about trials!!!! I felt the Lord press upon my heart to do another GMG video on trials! Courtney just had done one on Friday so I felt a little silly making another one, but I wanted to be obedient so I did mine as well. I felt God was wanting me to share that for someone in particular. So yes, I guess I did do that video for you! :) I’m so sorry for the trials you have been walking through….I’ll be praying for you!

Toni- My heart just breaks for your cousin tonight! Please know that I am praying for her and her sweet family!

    Love God Greatly!

  9. God knows the desires of our heart right? Well, my ultimate desire is to have a home of my own. Lately I have been pushing my husband to start details of a home and financially we aren’t ready. This is a trial in my life because I am wanting a home and pushing my husband and causing strain on or marriage. The timing of this study couldn’t be better. Thank you for helping show the errors of my ways. In God’s time, not mine.

  10. Linda Tate says:

Loved that Angela!! Thank you for keeping it simple. Will keep that in my heart!

  11. Like so many others, this study in James could not have come at a better time for me. We’re going on 2 weeks of having my 9 month old son in the pediatric ICU with a rare blood disorder called hemolytic uremic syndrome. I truly believe that the lack of worry I feel is because of His hand in our lives and how He has provided and cared for us. I would strongly encourage anybody who is having doubts about fully letting go to God, to just do it. He is our strength and our portion.

  12. That was awsome….. Thank you! It seems I get out of a trial and another one comes again. This week I was going through some past hurts and trying to allow God to heal me and move on. Just when I really felt i finally could move on we were told my 19 yr old daughter has a brain tumor that is leaking in her brain. She will be having surgery to remove in few weeks. I have been searching for ways to fix this and for the first time God has said to me… Your not in control! I really do not understand why these things happen but knowing trials in our life bring us to a new understanding of who our God is. All I can do now is have FAITH in GOD….. Maybe thats what he has been trying to show me for so long. I am very grateful to have found good morning girls and plan to dig deep. If anyone can give me some advice on how to really understand why these types of things happen please give me some wisdom through Gods word.
