Good Morning Girls Winter Kick-Off

(This is my Good Morning Girls Group – we are missing 1 in the photo)

Enrollment for the Winter Good Morning Girls Session is ABOUT to begin.  Here’s all the details:

When: Enrollment runs January 1st through January 15th

Sign up on the Message board

If you have a group of girls already, then enroll them on the message board.  If you do not have a group yet, go to the thread on the board where other ladies are looking for a group and email one of them and create a group!

If you have never heard of Good Morning Girls before here’s what we are…The “Good Morning Girls” is a title for a group of women who use email, facebook, twitter or text messaging to keep each other accountable for their quiet times. For 3+ years, I have been a part of a group of girls who email each other each weekday morning after we have our quiet time. We say “Good Morning” and then share what we read in our quiet time. Some of us have our quiet time first thing in the morning, while others squeeze it in during children’s naps or at bedtime.

Our main goal is to be accountable to each other and to help each other maintain the discipline of reading God’s word daily.

Important to note:
When our group started we had 11 women – within five months we were down to 5 women.  After 2+ years, we had one drop out and we added two new ones this past fall.  Your group may lose a few – don’t sweat it.  This is normal – do not take it personally or let it discourage you.  Keep going and praying for your group.

Over time, we have learned a lot about each other and have bonded. We discuss marriage, parenting, homemaking and more. We have fasted and prayed for each other in times of trouble, have kept each other accountable in specific areas of weakness and in the summer we always read a book together to discuss.

Joining a Good Morning Girls group requires commitment.  Now that Angela and I have had time to watch these groups form and grow, we are aware that some start strong but then fizzle out.  As a result the entire group can get discouraged.  So it is very important that if you join a group you remain committed to the end.  Even if you can only check in once or twice a week – please do not quit completely.  The other girls WANT to hear from you!

This is a 3 month commitment.  The winter session runs from January 15th – April 15th.

What to study:  You can choose as a group to read through a certain book of the Bible together, to join a Bible study together such as a Beth Moore study or each do your own thing.  This past year my entire group was in an Anne Graham Lotz  Bible study together but this winter we will not be in a Bible study together.

Angela and I will be unveiling a very simple Bible study in the book of James.  This is what I will be doing in my quiet times during this session.  We would love for you to join us in our study of James if you do not have other plans.

We look forward to a wonderful winter as we journey together in our Walks with the King!

My husband is away from Lord right now and struggling and we have only been married for almost 5 years and have a 2yr old son. I am feeling beaten down spiritually and feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. I want to be disciplined in my quiet times with the Lord and have not been doing too well. Please help.

Kimberly- I know EXACTLY where Rowlett, Tx is….use to live there! :) What a small world! I just saw last night a group that has started in Rockwall and they are looking for more girls. Take a look on our message board in the “Roll Call for Jan”…session. Her name is Lydia and here is her email: faithful_2_the_lord@yahoo.com She said they are still looking for more members. :)

Ruth- I’m going to start praying for you specifically that God puts you in the right group! As you see other girls sign up on our message board in the “If you do not have a group” feel free to post that you would like to join their group. :) Also, make sure that you are signing up on the Message Board page and not in the comments section on that page. I have closed the comments for that page, but the actual message board is open and ready for you to use. :)

Kellie- WOW that is wonderful there are so many in your group! What do you think about making smaller groups within your larger group??? From my past experiences, sometimes the larger the group the less involved people become because they feel they can hide and no one will notice if they don’t say something for a few days. Typically 3-7 is a good number for a group…..JUST a suggestion!!! I’m really excited to see what God has planned for your group! Way-to-go girl!!! :)

    Love God Greatly!

  11. So excited to join your group! What do I need to do from here??

    Be Strong in the Lord,

  16. We are brand new to Good Morning Girls. There are 5 of us. I think we will all be doing our own thing. Thanks for the encouragment!

  17. Jillybean! Oh thank you for commenting and sharing your heart. I so apologize that you are finding that many of the posts are not more relevant to your daily life. The reason is that this is a family based ministry. Our passion is to see wives and moms walking with the King and loving God greatly. We have to stay true to our passion and mission so you most likely will not find us veering off this path much this winter. I apologize that we can’t do more but the bulk of our audience seems to be around age 25-45.

But I love you sister…and I will be mindful of this going forward. Thank you for commenting!
    Much Love,

  18. I am looking for a group & my posts/comments are posting on the forum threads! I’ve never done this before {but only because I have never heard of it either!}! I am married, have 2 kids, am {almost} 27 and am a SAHM. If anybody can squeeze me into their group, AWESOME! You can email me@ whileonthisside (at) gmail (dot) com

    Thanks in Advance! :D

  19. Lorraine Fields says:

Hey, good morning/afternoon my sister’s in Christ!! First I want to mention how beautiful you all look on the main page’s pic! The one on the end with the black belt reminds me of Drew Barrymore! LOL
I started today intending to do some more bible study on our Wednesday at church sermon, 2 Sam. 21 & 22, then move onto my personal study of Kaye Arthur’s, Lord, I want to know you, a study of the names of God. But, the Lord is Lord, and had different plans for me. One was to have a little bit of “church” with my relatives on facebook. That was fun and primed me with worship for the rest of the day. Then He brought me back to remember my life’s verse which is Deut. 9:3, “But be assured today that the Lord your God is the One who goes across ahead of you as a devouring fire. He will destroy them; He will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you.” WOW! Even reading/typing it again brings me back all over again to all the Lord has given to me on this passage, so far;)
My husband and I are former US Navy personnel, retired. I am a veteran and he just retired from a 32yr career. Our last command was our CO tour in Sicily. First let me just say that I am an artist; have studied art since I can remember, so this was SUCH a gift and an unexpected one at that, for the Lord to give me. We lived on base in Sigonella whose closest metro city was Catania. Mt. Etna separate these two cities. Mt. Etna is a ventricular volcano which means that she’ll never REALLY erupt as we think of most volcano’s erupting since there are vents letting off steam all over the island, more closer to her. The Lord brought me many, many experiences and taught me a lot through the landscape of Sicily. Laid back and “country”. One important lesson He taught me was through my girl, Mt. Etna. We saw her erupt 3 times of the 2 years we lived in Sigonella. In wonder, fascination, and praise, we watched this from our living room windows!! Once, my husband and I took a night drive UP the volcano while the eruption occurred! You can also go online to several cameras set up in different locations on her and watch 24/7 the life of Mt. Etna. After one particularly LARGE eruption that made the world headlines, (her eruption were recorded to be shooting into the night sky up to 2500 ft. I believe; enough for the space station to view it clearly), I went to the cameras online to see what a volcano looks like after it has erupted. Nothing. No grass, no trees, no wildlife, no dirt, no rocks. Only dry, black, waves of lava everywhere. Not very appealing.
Okay, well that got my curiosity for a while. It was sometime later that, out of the blue, the Lord spoke to me about this verse. I think that He talks to me out of the blue or in my dreams because it’s the only time He gets me quiet! I’m working on it with Him. Anyway, He asked me to look at Deut. 9:3 closer. “What happens to the landscape when a devouring fire sweeps in?, He asked.” I remembered the camera view and pondered on that for a good while then related that to my life. When a devouring fire or the Lord God goes before me as a devouring fire; nothing stands in it’s wake. All matter is decidedly melted within a matter of moments and the results are all that remain. In life, when rocks, brush, or even beauty stand in the way to trip us up, tangle us up and injuring us, or even distract us from the path the Lord God has brought us to, He will go before us and wipe them entirely, utterly away, IF we would allow Him!
I mentioned Mt. Etna is a ventricular volcano with vents grown up all around her to “relieve” her of the gas that would otherwise cause a world-record eruption. God also has made ways of escapes for us. Should the temptation of lava-erupting gas or in our case, temptation-inducing sin, not find it’s way to these escapes, the results are always catastrophic. We could cover up these doors or vents, we could fill them in with other things.
I say all this to bring about the next lesson the Lord taught me through Mt. Etna. It was something like a year later and, as per the Lord to me, He spoke to me about the effects of a devouring fire. He said, “What happens to the lava-covered landscape when time has lapsed?” Again, pondering. I remember from like 5th grade and having been born and raised in Iowa, what the farmer’s sometimes do to the fields. They set it on fire. This conditions the soil and nourishes it for the next planting. It gets rid of any stubble left behind as well as eliminate most pest buried in the ground. Are you beginning to see something? :) All of a sudden I saw in my mind’s eye; as I walk behind where the Lord has been, grass, flowers, beauty springing up behind me! His devouring of all the things that would cause me to not follow Him in obedience has produced the beauty that He intended to be there in the first place! Is this beauty for the person who follows on their own path after me? I guess this is for the next time the Lord comes in “all of a sudden!” Love with Jesus!

  20. Thank you Lorraine for your beautiful story! :) I loved reading it! I’ll never “see” a volcano the same again without thinking of Deut. 9:3. :)

    Love God Greatly!

  21. Teresa McFarland says:

I almost forgot to add my group. There will be 4 of us joining from Southern Illinois. This is our third session and we are loving it. We also did a project for your fall challenge and hope to have something to send you soon.

  22. Ohhh wonderful Teresa!!! Send me the fall challenge that you all did and I’ll still post it. I still have my group’s project to post as well! :) Can’t wait to read about what you all did! :)
