Good Morning Girls Winter Kick-Off

(This is my Good Morning Girls Group – we are missing 1 in the photo)

Enrollment for the Winter Good Morning Girls Session is ABOUT to begin.  Here’s all the details:

When: Enrollment runs January 1st through January 15th

Where:
Sign up on the Message board

Who:
If you have a group of girls already, then enroll them on the message board.  If you do not have a group yet, go to the thread on the board where other ladies are looking for a group and email one of them and create a group!

What:
If you have never heard of Good Morning Girls before here’s what we are…The “Good Morning Girls” is a title for a group of women who use email, facebook, twitter or text messaging to keep each other accountable for their quiet times. For 3+ years, I have been a part of a group of girls who email each other each weekday morning after we have our quiet time. We say “Good Morning” and then share what we read in our quiet time. Some of us have our quiet time first thing in the morning, while others squeeze it in during children’s naps or at bedtime.

Why:
Our main goal is to be accountable to each other and to help each other maintain the discipline of reading God’s word daily.

Important to note:
When our group started we had 11 women – within five months we were down to 5 women.  After 2+ years, we had one drop out and we added two new ones this past fall.  Your group may lose a few – don’t sweat it.  This is normal – do not take it personally or let it discourage you.  Keep going and praying for your group.

Over time, we have learned a lot about each other and have bonded. We discuss marriage, parenting, homemaking and more. We have fasted and prayed for each other in times of trouble, have kept each other accountable in specific areas of weakness and in the summer we always read a book together to discuss.

Commitment:
Joining a Good Morning Girls group requires commitment.  Now that Angela and I have had time to watch these groups form and grow, we are aware that some start strong but then fizzle out.  As a result the entire group can get discouraged.  So it is very important that if you join a group you remain committed to the end.  Even if you can only check in once or twice a week – please do not quit completely.  The other girls WANT to hear from you!

This is a 3 month commitment.  The winter session runs from January 15th – April 15th.

What to study:  You can choose as a group to read through a certain book of the Bible together, to join a Bible study together such as a Beth Moore study or each do your own thing.  This past year my entire group was in an Anne Graham Lotz  Bible study together but this winter we will not be in a Bible study together.

Angela and I will be unveiling a very simple Bible study in the book of James.  This is what I will be doing in my quiet times during this session.  We would love for you to join us in our study of James if you do not have other plans.

We look forward to a wonderful winter as we journey together in our Walks with the King!

GMG group out of St. Louis….another fall challenge submission!

A week ago I received yet another GMG challenge submission! Lisa and her GMG group out of St. Louis, Missouri shared with me how her group completed the fall challenge…by helping one of their own within their Good Morning Girls group. Take a look!

Just another beautiful example of women reaching out to those God has placed in their lives and being Jesus’s hands and feet. Thank you so much for not only seeing the need but acting upon it. Thank you for putting your faith and your words into ACTION! Way-to-go Lisa’s group from St. Louis!!!!!

Hello sweet friends!

I can’t wait to share with you another GMG challenge submission I received last week! What I love about all the submissions is how they are all different, yet each one is touching an area of our world that is needing God’s ray of light to shine brightly through each of you!!!

Here is the email I received from Julie, concerning her Good Morning Girls and how they met our GMG challenge!

First of all I would like to thank you on behalf or our Good Morning Girls group who we lovingly refer to as the Healing Waters GMG’s. This accountability and sharing has started a revival in the 7 of us who are involved. Words just aren’t enough to tell you of all that our Father has done through the 8 months that we have participated and we will all be starting again in the new year. We have compiled a book of our GMG posts thus far and it is turning into quite a little devotional book!

Now on to the challenge, our group participated in this challenge in two ways – first of all we have provided child care and for a family in our church who has 4 children and little funds so that the parents could enjoy a night alone or out whichever they chose. Secondly, we have a pen-pal who is an inmate at a correctional facility nearby. She is a new Christian and has been incarcerated for over 6 years. In that six years she has never received a Christmas package or a care package of any kind. One of the reasons is due to a lack of any contact with her own family and the other reason I am sure is due to the expense of such a package. Our GMG group funded a large box of Christmas food and treats for Deborah and also was privileged to be able to send her two bibles and a bible study workbook!

-Julie

This challenge is all about seeing how your group can meet the needs of those God has placed in our lives, I love how Julie’s group did this in both situations, they truly were Jesus’s hands and feet. Giving of their time to help provide child care is worth more than gold to many parents…….we all need a break sometimes. :) But then they didn’t stop there, instead they reached out to a pen-pal and provided Christmas to someone who hasn’t received one in years! Well that’ll bring you to tears! I’m sure receiving that Christmas package meant the world to her!!! And giving her God’s Word……priceless!!!!

Way-to-go Julie and your GMG group! Thanks for taking the time to put God’s Word into action by meeting the needs of those in your lives! You have truly inspired all of us by the way you met this challenge! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your sweet hearts, willing desire to sacrifice your time to help another and for your thoughtful and loving gifts!!!!!!

Fall Session Comes To An End

Today the Fall Session comes to an end.  So you may be asking, “what’s next?”  Here’s a sneak peak (sorry about the goofy look on my face lol! But it was wonderful to have Angela on my couch in Ohio all the way from Dallas, Texas over Thanksgiving Weekend!):

We encourage you to take time off from your groups from December 15th until January 15th. This will give women an opportunity to slip out of the group guilt free and open the door for you to invite a few new friends.  It will also refresh the group so they can come back fully committed for the winter session.

Enrollment will not begin until January 1st and it will run through January 15th. At that time we will give you more details on the Book of James Book Club.

We can’t wait to see what God does next!

Have a Merry Christmas and Keep Walking with the King!!

Our 1st GMG Challenge Submission!

Hello sweet friends!

I’m so excited to share with you our 1st GMG challenge submission! This past October I posted a challenge asking each group to decide how they can put God’s Words into action by being Christ’s hands and feet to those in their families, GMG group, towns, states, countries or world! I left it up to each group to decide who they were going to help and how they were going to help. One of our fellow Good Morning Girls, Gertha and her group from Georgia, decided to put God’s Word into action……LITERALLY!!! Watch this! :)

In the United States we are so blessed to have the Word of God so readily available to us that it’s hard for us to realize there are still millions of people who do not have God’s Word in their native tongue…that’s where OneVerse.org comes in.  OneVerse is a program of The Seed Company that enables you to support local Bible translators as they make God’s message available in the language of their people. OneVerse is also an affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators, a wonderful organization who has helped translate God’s Word into numerous languages throughout the world.

If your GMG group hasn’t decided how to complete the challenge yet, won’t you consider donating to one of these organizations? Like Gertha and her group, you too can help support these wonderful organizations who are translating God’s Word for those who do not have it yet. Can you imagine not having God’s Word available to you everyday?

Thank you Gertha for your inspiring fall challenge submission and for bringing attention to OneVerse.Org!

If your group has completed a fall challenge, don’t forget to email me your stories and pictures at: lovegodgreatly@gmail.com or if you have a video to share, upload it to youtube first and send me the link. :) I’d love to showcase how your group has put God’s Word into ACTION!!!

Until next time…

Love God Greatly!
