The last few weeks we’ve talked about turning what we are reading and learning from God’s Word into action, particularly with being intentional in passing down our faith to the next generation.
In Deuteronomy 6:5-7 we read:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your heart. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
In these verses God is talking about being intentional as parents as we pass our faith on to the next generation. The emphasis is on the parents……not the church, to influence the next generation for Christ. Today I’d like to share with you another tool that will help you fulfill your God-given assignment.
It’s called My Faith Box, and when I purchased one a few weeks ago I knew I needed to introduce you all to it…….and give one away as well! 
What I love about it is how simple yet informative it is. What is the My Faith Box? I’m so glad you asked! Basically it’s a box that you can decorate and place special keepsakes in, BUT the exciting part is what’s inside the box! Inside is the My Faith Book. What I LOVE about the My Faith Book is how as a parent you can record your child’s faith journey! From birth until age 18, you can record each year how you are praying for your child and create an intentional plan of passing down your faith to your child. Each year contains areas for you to record special memories, what they are learning about God, what they are praying for, favorite bible stories etc. As your child gets older, he/she can then start filling in each year. The book also contains areas for photos as well as areas for older children to personally write about their journey thus far with God. What I love is this book helps create a history of your child’s faith that they can turn back to in later years. The My Faith Book is a tool that can be used to help them remember the faithfulness of God as they flip through the pages and see how God has answered prayers that were written down years before.
Besides the My Faith Journey section, the book also includes a section for parents listing ideas on how to be intentional in passing down your faith to your child. Some of the topics include family night ideas as well as building a spiritual legacy among others. There is even a holiday section as well!

Good morning! This is so important! On Sunday, our Pastor told a heartbreaking story of a woman who lamented that she had “believed a lie” as she had decided to let her children decide on their own what to believe. I live in liberal New England — these stories abound. Relativism abounds. Logic is no longer taught publicly here because if the Lord is the Truth, then other ways up the “mountain” are invalid. There is no standing firm in what is right — everyone’s beliefs are valid and OK. New age and yoga permeate a society where people I see are starving for truth and turning to these fill the God shaped void in their hearts but turn resentfully away from Jesus. Our Pastor received “hate mail” after putting on a play with a Christian theme in the den of the most liberal town in the state… There is one Truth and Light… It is reassuring to be reminded of the importance of “talking about the Lord as you walk along the road.” I know this is the one true and right road no matter what those of the world say. I know this is the way to raise my children. I brag on the fruit that is in my children because it is not of me or my husband, but of the Lord! Thank you for building my confidence this morning!

This is a wonderful idea I would love to share this with my children.
How I would love to receive something like this. My kids are 9.5, 7, & 5 and its awesome to hear the little things they say at these ages about God and the things they pray over. I’ve always wanted them to have their own testimonies and this would be a great way for them to start and then be reminded of them.

It is so important to keep a record of how God is faithful. I have a wonderful mentor at my church who encouraged me to record events in my family so we can look back and see how He has brought us through difficult times or blessed us with answered prayer. I purchased the journal edition of “My Utmost for His Highest several years ago and began recording ‘blessings’ and answers to prayers. On Monday when I went to read the devotional for October 20th, there was an entry recording my husband’s first day of chemo in 2007.(It was a difficult day, he had a severe allergic reaction to one of the drugs!) Three years later we are celebrating the fact he is still in remission and reflected on how faithful and trustworthy God was during this difficult journey:) I love the idea of this box and the book. Definitely something I want to have for my family! Thanks for sharing:)

What a great idea. I scrapbook and try to include faithbooking in my journaling because it is so much of who we are as individuals and as a family. I don’t do it as much as I would like because I look at the pictures and get caught up in the moment of the picture and the cute faces. This would be so helpful in recording this important information and for challenging me.

I love the part of the verse that says “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your heart. Impress them on your children.” On my heart. Impressed onto my children. Obeying the Lord is vital to spiritual growth. I want my kids to see faith in my everyday words, actions and prayers. Lead by example…with God’s strength and grace, I commit each day to him and focus on loving my children and husband like Christ.
