Is Your Good Morning Girls Group Struggling?

We have heard that some groups are doing amazing and dynamic!  Praise the Lord!  But we also heard from a few, that their group is struggling.  So I thought I would write today to encourage those whose groups may be struggling.  Here’s a few issues you could be facing:

1.  You feel like you are emailing yourself every morning.
If the rest of your group is not responding daily, do not be discouraged.  Though you are missing out on the vibrant deep spiritual conversation you were looking forward to, God has put this group together for a reason.  Continue to rise early and commune with God – you are being blessed by this time.  I believe that those who receive your emails are also getting a tidbit of God’s truth spoken into their lives by your emails.  So persevere.  When the end of this session comes, pray about trying again with a new group.

2.  2-3 of you email consistently and the others are not participating.  You wonder if you should confront those ladies.
My answer to this question is “no”.  I would not confront them but I would let them know that they are missed and that you would love to hear from them more to connect.  Some ladies are going to struggle more than others based on their season of life, their ability to be disciplined and their willingness to open up in a group.  Pray for the ladies and be patient with them.

3.  You feel like some in the group are judgemental or just different from you.  You aren’t connecting.

Sometimes this is “iron sharpening iron” Proverbs 27:17 – it can hurt at times to be stretched and grow. But sometimes this is someone else’s problem and has nothing to do with you.  Their personality and disposition is just difficult.  All of us are on a journey toward growth and some need more grace than others.  Be a giver of grace in the group.  Cover this girl in prayer.

4.  You want out!  The guilt of failing to have the quiet time is frustrating.

Don’t give up.  Give yourself grace!  God loves you deeply and no matter what you do good or bad he will always love you.  Do not heap guilt on yourself but take baby steps towards growth.  If all you can do is read one verse a day – then do it!  Start there and move forward.  Pray and ask God for a hunger,  thirst  and discipline to be in his word.

5.  You love the concept but want a new group.

December 15th is coming!  Hang tight and when this cycle ends – join us again in January and try a  new group.  Really pray about who God would bring into your next group.

6. Your group is too large and the emails are too much.

In January, divide your group into two.  It may be hard to do this but it will benefit everyone to be able to manage all the emails and respond and connect.  Pray that your group will be willing to do this.

7.  You don’t know where to read in the scriptures!
Read a Proverb a day, read a couple Psalms a day, or read Luke to prepare for the holidays.  Pray and ask God to guide you to where he wants you to be reading right now.  Ecclesiastes is another favorite of mine!

8.  You wish the group was all reading the same passage of scripture everyday.

Hang tight because Angela and I are developing a simple but thorough method to study your Bible come January.  We will pick a book of the Bible and if your group would like to join us for this study – we will have it available for your group.  It will be optional and we think you will really like it!

And the WINNER is…

So a few weeks ago I challenged all of you to do something for others and put your faith into action. Last Tuesday I posted a giveaway, the My Faith Box, and encouraged everyone who was interested to post a comment to be entered in the giveaway.

Last night as I was sitting at my computer, praying over who was about to win the giveaway, I felt God urging me to ask my sweet husband if we could purchase two My Faith Boxes for the giveaway instead of just one.

After I had finished praying I said, “Buddy, I have to announce the winner for the My Faith Box giveaway tomorrow, I was wondering, would it be ok to give two Faith Boxes away instead of just one?” My husband looked at me and said, “No I don’t think you should give two………I think we should give one to EVERY mom who entered to win that giveaway!!!” Yes, you just read that correctly! God has blessed my sweet husband with a VERY GIVING heart and as a family, we feel that every child should have a My Faith Box! This is just one way, as a family, we are putting what we believe into action and blessing each of you with your own personal faith box!!!

Why are we doing this?
Because we believe the My Faith Box is such a powerful tool to help parents be intentional with their children in passing down their faith. I personally LOVE how this books creates a history of your child’s faith as you and your child record prayers and intentional goals from year to year. I LOVE how the book also includes areas for strengthening marriages, ideas for family nights as well as ways to celebrate holidays as a family through out the year.

All I ask is…
If you have a blog, please post about winning your Faith Box to help spread the word about this wonderful intentional parenting tool. If you don’t, don’t worry about it, just share your story of winning a My Faith Box with your friends and family and consider purchasing one for someone else. Pass it on! :) The My Faith Box would make a GREAT baby shower gift or Christmas present! 100% of the proceeds go back to HomePointe, an organization whose goal is to help parents become intentional in building a God-honoring home, one family at a time.

Another way that you can help is by “Liking” the My Faith Box on Facebook. That’s another great way to let your friends or family know about this wonderful resource.

Please join us in helping to equip our generation of parents intentionally pass their faith on to the next generation!

I will personally email each commenter requesting your address so that your Faith Box can be shipped to you directly. Please be patient, this will take me a few days to email ALL of you individually! :)

Joining you in putting our faith into ACTION!

Love God GREATLY!

What I Learned At Relevant

This verse couldn’t be more appropriate in explaining what I experienced at a blogging conference this past weekend!!! Yes, you read it right……a blogging conference!!! This past Sunday I flew back to Texas from attending the Relevant Conference- A Christian Women’s Blogging Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I went to support my dear friend Courtney and also prayed that God would speak to me in regard to Good Morning Girls, I was searching for direction. God met me there in Harrisburg, Pa and answered my heartfelt prayers POWERFULLY!

He showed me that Courtney and I are on the right track with Good Morning Girls when Sally Clarkson spoke to the audience of 200+ women, challenging us to put God first in our lives. To make sure we are making time for HIM and having our quiet times. If we can make time for blogging, and getting on the internet, if we can find time to watch TV, then we have time in our schedules to be alone with God. She lovingly pointed out that “a woman alone is a target”, we need each other! We live in a culture where we are alone, we need each other for support and encouragement. Lovingly holding each other accountable to be in God’s Word and being there for each other is what Good Morning Girls is ALL ABOUT!!! We are to encourage each other to be in God’s Word daily and support each other through prayer as we communicate with each other within our GMG group.

What I Saw

Sally Clarkson and Ann Voskamp- two women who are in God’s Word and allow HIM to guide their lives spoke such wisdom into our lives. They each are so beautiful on the inside and out and just RADIATED Jesus’s love for us! As they each spoke, I soaked in their wisdom and realized that their wisdom came from God and from their discipline of spending time with HIM. I was so encouraged by their every word! They were both so gracious and humble…..I loved being in their presence. :)

Some Of My Favorite Quotes

- “I give my compliments to your maker.”- Ann Voskamp

- “Tell me your story, not your sermons.”- Ann Voskamp

- “Make your writing a gift to God.” – Ann Voskamp

- “You don’t have to be qualified to have a message.”- Sally Clarkson

- “Be gentle, be gracious. Have integrity in your home.”- Sally Clarkson

- “Love passion, adore compassion.”- Sally Clarkson

-”Jesus had only 12 followers, and even one of them left Him.” – Ann Voskamp

So What Does This Mean For Me?

That spending time in God’s Word will reward you with wisdom that can only come from HIM. That spending time in God’s Word is important. That having a support group of women around you, like Good Morning Girls, is so important for us!

I wish I could sit right next to you as you read this post and just encourage you to be in God’s Word daily. I wish I could give you a hug and let you know how much I love you and daily pray for you! You all are sooo very important to me! I LOVED meeting those of you who attended Relevant this past weekend! Thank you for sharing your stories with me!

Pictures with Sally and Ann!

Weekly Challenge: Reach out to the girls in your GMG group! Find out what prayer requests they have, what burdens they are carrying…..be there for each other and don’t let anyone feel alone! Ohhh and one more thing………..share what God is teaching you as you grow in wisdom by spending time with the Wisdom Giver!!!! :)

Until next week……

Love God Greatly,

A God Encounter At the Relevant Blogging Conference

Angela and I (Courtney) just got back from being together for 3 glorious days at the Relevant Blogging Conference!!!

As Alyssa, Kingdom First Mom said, the conference left women “tearfully reaching for God not our blogs“.

We went there to learn new things about the blogging world and to be inspired and left having encountered GOD.

Angela and I both prayed that God would give us a clearer vision for the Good Morning Girls and GOD ANSWERED!  I am just so excited to share with you that God has clearly shown us a new direction for January.

Angela and I will be creating a Bible Study curriculum that is special for you all. It will be simple, deep and optional. Each group can choose to join Angela and I while we stroll through a book of the Bible together or you can choose to do your own thing. But for groups that feel unsure of what to read next – we have a plan and we will share it all with you in December! (Actually we have two plans!!)

We prayed and asked God for help. We sought counsel from Sally Clarkson and we believe we have an answer from God and are overjoyed!!!

Thank you for sticking with us on this journey and Keep Walking with the King!!!Courtney
(for more about the Relevant Conference and what I learned go here)

YOU Are Needed!

Let’s join forces and make a pact that as moms, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and future moms, we are going to be there for the next generation. Let’s actively live out what God is teaching us from His Word. Let’s make our life INTENTIONAL for Christ and commit to passing our faith on to the next generation! Mission impossible??? I think not!

With God ALL things are possible! (Phil 4:13)
