Roll Call Starts TODAY!!!

Hello sweet friends!!!

I’m soooo excited to announce our Fall 2010 Roll Call begins TODAY!!!

If you already have a group of girls for our Fall Good Morning Girls session then GREAT!!!! Go sign up on our message board and let us know who you are! If you don’t have a group yet, please don’t worry about it! There are plenty of women wanting to be a part of a group so head over to our message board and start connecting with some of the women who are searching for a group to join. Simply go to our “If You Do Not Have A Group-Create Groups Here” section and start meeting some wonderful new friends! Once you have formed a group then head over to our Roll Call section and let us know.

A few things to remember when forming GMG groups:

1. Size doesn’t matter- your group can have 3 or 13 women in your group. The members of the groups should decide how big or small they want to be. There are positives and negatives to having small groups as there are positives and negatives to having bigger groups too. One size doesn’t fit all. As a group you decide how big or small you want to be.

2. Good Morning Girls groups are open to ALL WOMEN of ALL AGES, STAGES and SEASONS OF LIFE! Single women, married women, teens, college students, women without kids, women with kids, empty nesters….basically if you’re a woman who loves Jesus and you want to be held accountable to be in God’s Word on a regular basis, you’re in!!!

3. Remember, as a group you decide how you want to be contacted: email, facebook, twitter or texting……do what’s easiest for everyone in the group.

I’m sooo incredibly excited to see what God is going to do this Fall with our Good Morning Girls groups! I wish we were starting TODAY!!! Please remember I am praying over all of you……..that God will start a fire in our hearts to be in His Word and that He will do a MIGHTY work in our lives as we make Him a priority by being in His Word!!! I believe that GREATER things are yet to come!!!!

Love God Greatly,

Led By The Spirit Summer Challenge #11 Self-Control

Week 11 Challenge: Target one area of your life this week that you would like to get under control. Ask your Good Morning Girls to pray over you concerning this area. Go through the Nehemiah 2 steps, then give your success over to God.

I don’t know about you……but I love a good cupcake every now and then…..especially if they come from Sprinkles or Dimples…..ohh my goodness…….a little slice of heaven on earth!!! Going inside either of those stores, makes me exercise my self-control!

Is there an area in your life you need to exercise self-control? Is it with your eating habits? Your spending? Your words? Your thoughts? Your computer or TV time? We all have areas in our lives we need help gaining control of. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Don’t allow your past attempts to discourage you from trying again. With God’s help you can experience success! Some of our world’s most successful people have experienced failure. If failure is part of your past, then you are in good company….

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
~ Michael Jordan

You Can Have Victory

We are called to be bond servants of Christ alone, not to anyone or anything else. Beth Moore, in her book Living Beyond Yourself, says “the key to self-control is the refusal to allow our enemies (the flesh, the world, or Satan) to rule or hold us captive in any way.”  Is there anything in your life that you feel is ruling you, holding you down or making you a prisoner? Beth goes on to say “Christ has given us the victory over our flesh, our world, and our accuser…they cannot presume authority over us. In the life of a believer, they can rule only where they are invited” I think for some of us we need to un-invite some of our desires. We need to take a stand and tell our flesh, the world or Satan, that Christ is in charge of our life and they are no longer welcome.

Take a good look at your life. Are there any broken down walls? Ask God today to help you gain the self-control you need to repair those walls. Remember any area of our life where we do not have control is an open invitation to our enemy. Satan’s weapons are our greatest temptations. When you start to feel tempted, take that temptation captive and give it to God. Ask Him for the strength to overcome that temptation. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Steps To Victory

Taking a look at Nehemiah 2:1-20 lets look at the steps we need to take to have victory over our enemies and gain the self-control in our lives that we desire.

1. Enlist a few accountability partners. (vs 12)
2. Perform an honest self-examination. In what areas do you lack self-control? (vs 13)
3. Admit that you have experienced internal or external disgrace in your areas of self-indulgence. (vs 17)
4. Don’t put it off any longer. Begin immediately to cooperate with God’s diligent work with you in your areas of captivity. (vs 18)
5. Give it to God, then keep giving it to God over and over until you have overcome. (vs. 20)
(Note: These steps came from Beth Moore’s book, Living Beyond Yourself)

Week 11 Challenge: Target one area of your life this week that you would like to get under control. Ask your Good Morning Girls to pray over you concerning this area. Go through the Nehemiah 2 steps, then give your success over to God.

Remember, you are not alone in your struggles, you are not alone in your failures……we are in the trenches with you……fighting with you…..praying for you!

Glorify God With Our Dirt!

We need to glorify God with our “dirt”.

Sounds like a crazy statement doesn’t it? I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot lately. Maybe it’s because as I’m getting older, I’m realizing how sinful I truly am. Or maybe its because I’m a mother training my two young daughters to love God and learn the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong. As I guide/instruct/correct them, I feel God guiding/instructing/correcting me. Whatever the case, I’ve been thinking about my mistakes, my unforgiveness, my impatience at times…….my sin, my “dirt.”

I’ve also been thinking about how as Christians we feel so much pressure sometimes to be perfect. To look perfect, to act perfect, to be the perfect wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Sadly some of us go to church feeling like we have to continue our “everything is perfect” disguise. We don’t allow others to see “our dirt”, our sins, our struggles. If anyone does have a past…….a past that was far from God, they don’t feel like sharing it because what would all the “perfect” people think?

We need to get back to the basics at times. What is truly our life purpose? To bring glory to God! If we don’t allow others to see how dirty and sin saturated our past use to be…we are robbing God of His glory. If we don’t allow others to see how far God has brought us, the change He has made in our lives…..then we are robbing God of His glory.

Not only are we robbing God of His glory, but we are also robbing others of hope. Hope that God can make a difference in their lives because of what they have seen Him do in ours.

There is a purpose in our dirty sin stained lives, the purpose is to bring glory to God by coming to Him and allowing Him to cleanse us. Though our sins were like scarlet, God can wash us as white as snow…….some of my favorite lyrics. As we allow God to cleanse us, we bring Him glory through the transformation of our lives. Next time you feel tempted to hide your past, realize that your past is what brings God glory.

God grows beautiful lives out of “dirt”.

Love God Greatly,

I Wish I Had A Counseling Degree

There are times I receive emails from my dear readers that contain questions far too difficult for me to answer. When the questions are beyond my experience or studies I often say “I’m sorry I am not a counselor. You need to seek out a pastor, trusted Godly friend or call Focus on the Family’s 1-800 number (1-800-232-6459). I deeply regret this is beyond my expertise.”
There are moments I feel inept to write on this blog because I am not a counselor – I just don’t know all the answers and I so wish I did!~

Thankfully there is a counsellor all believers have access to who supersedes all counseling degrees – the Holy Spirit!

Jesus says in John 14: 16-17 “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth.”

Anne Graham Lotz says: “Jesus described the Holy Spirit as “Another.” The Greek word actually means “another who is exactly the same.” So although the Holy Spirit is a distinct person, He is exactly the same as Jesus, but without the physical body. He has been described as Jesus without skin. Or, like an FBI agent, He is Jesus undercover.”
Dear hurting Christian sister, you may feel all alone in your trials and difficulties. But you are not. Jesus has sent “another” counselor with the same mind, emotions, intellect and wisdom into our hearts to guide, comfort, direct, and help us manage our way through life. Have you yielded to this Counselor the Holy Spirit? You must first be in his word, in prayer and in stillness – to sense his clear leading, comfort and guidance.

If you are hurting today – practice the presence of God in your life. Psalm 139:7-10 says:

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
Know that he is always with you. Surrender your will to him. Be still – listen – move forward in peace.

If anyone knows of any other organizations with toll free numbers for readers who need a counselor can you please leave it in the comment section. I will use it as a resource for ladies who are hurting. Thank you for your help.
